It was cool meeting you today, CK, and a real treat to see that 9.6 run! (sorry the camera battery died) Got the 10 sec run though!

Yeah - she ran pretty hard. I didn't make it to irwindale but was at PSCA all weekend. I only got to do the one 9.67 run cause they threw me out for not having a license after that pass. The rest of the weekend I was doing my license passes. Now, I'm legal and I'll be lighting the wick even more.

I have not even pushed this car hard yet at all. I'm actually running very conservative and using a wagon wheel pulley so it has a lot more room to go!

Where did you get your 330 from? Did you do anything else to the internals?

Chevykiller, I know my car is a couple years newer than yours, but I'm still willing to make an even trade with you. Hit me up on PM if you're interested.

FRPP Iron boss big bore sleeved 4.6 block with a 3.85 crank and .020 over custom diamond pistons = 330.4 ci (kellog crank and manley rods)

The pistons were $1600 but are incredible. You'd have to see the rings to believe them.

BTW: here's a pic of the launch...

Finally finished the MONSTER DD!-mustanglift_low.jpg

Attachment 19229

Boss 330 Racing 4.6L 3V Shortblock [BOSS330-3VBLOCK] - $4,650.00

Is that the block? You have me second guessing about the Livernois 298...

What did you do for heads? I was thinking about doing Diamond pistons but $1600 is a lot haha. The upgraded I-beam rods sound like a winner for $750 already built in and everything.

Also, I noticed you said you have tried different setups until you came to picking this one, what were some of the others you tried?

Sorry for all the questions, I don't wanna "steal" your setup but I love it and I'm hoping for something similar. I am going with a KB though if I swap blowers

the link u posted is a block from the company boss 330 aka Al Papito.. mod motor legend in a way. the 330 does not mean its 330ci. it says 4.6L.. so the amount of liters times 61ci/L = amount of cubic inches.

so 4.6L= 280.7ci.

Correct - and I am using an IRON 4.6 BIG BORE block. The big bore block is sleeved and has a a larger web and allows a bigger stroke. When I breach 1000 to the fly, I don't want aluminum personally. It's too easy to bend.

That link is simply an aluminum 4.6 built by boss 330. Good company and it's a good block but you don't want to go crazy with it. You have to pay to play. Not all diamond pistons are $1600. Just that mine were because I wanted them built the way I wanted them and they are built for boost.

The KB makes incredible power but I would steer away from it if you plan on having a street car as well. (with 800 hp anyway). I have had a KB and it makes good power but they all run much hotter than the whipple. For me, I wanted a fast car that also could be streetable and make a 100 mile cruise no problems and I would not recommend the KB for that if you want 800+ hp. The livernoise 298 is a great motor and I highly recommend it. If you are looking to be crazy like me, then I'll tell you now that no 'off the shelf' parts are going to work. You have to custom build it. When you start getting into big power, keeping things cool is the HARD part. 90% of my time over the last year was learning how to make 800 rwhp run as cool as 280 rwhp and it was a PIA with a lot of trial and error. On a 100 mile cruise, my car sees 185º water temp, 180º oil temp, and 165º trans temp and that was far harder than making the power on the dyno. Hooking it was the second hard part and cost me a lot through trial and error.

But remember, mnay of those 'off the shelf' parts (like the livernois 298) will make insane power and do you just fine to a certain degree. You just have to know your limits.
