I can use your build to rationalize me doing so much less than some one else... I am having issues with 550hp/585tq I can't even imagine getting yours to go.... My KB is just fine for a DD but your are right about the heat.. I am spinning mine about as fast as it will go.

I thought the new KB's are supposed to be good for the whole heat thing?

I wish I had as much time and money as you did to do my engine build! lol

That link is simply an aluminum 4.6 built by boss 330. Good company and it's a good block but you don't want to go crazy with it. You have to pay to play. Not all diamond pistons are $1600. Just that mine were because I wanted them built the way I wanted them and they are built for boost.

The KB makes incredible power but I would steer away from it if you plan on having a street car as well. (with 800 hp anyway). I have had a KB and it makes good power but they all run much hotter than the whipple. For me, I wanted a fast car that also could be streetable and make a 100 mile cruise no problems and I would not recommend the KB for that if you want 800+ hp. The livernoise 298 is a great motor and I highly recommend it. If you are looking to be crazy like me, then I'll tell you now that no 'off the shelf' parts are going to work. You have to custom build it. When you start getting into big power, keeping things cool is the HARD part. 90% of my time over the last year was learning how to make 800 rwhp run as cool as 280 rwhp and it was a PIA with a lot of trial and error. On a 100 mile cruise, my car sees 185º water temp, 180º oil temp, and 165º trans temp and that was far harder than making the power on the dyno. Hooking it was the second hard part and cost me a lot through trial and error.

But remember, many of those 'off the shelf' parts (like the livernois 298) will make insane power and do you just fine to a certain degree. You just have to know your limits.
i dont necessarily agree with everything said here.. yes the hardest part is keeping cool , the aluminum 05+ block is stronger than most think.. the beloved teskid is now 2nd best due to some studies done.

but iron has proven itself over the years and is what most old school guys stick to.. no offense if any of u take offense to that.. the old saying as some of us know is go iron if ur going big..

jpc proved that u can build a beast off "off the shelf parts".. of course it was extreme and pure drag car but its not impossible to make a streetable set up

i dont like sleeves and high boost so i would watch that out in your set up when u do go up in boost otherwise from that you have done a great job just need to drop some weight! lol

hows the 4r70w holding up? that might also cause problems down the line...

Just my opinions, not fact. JPC is a great company and I am friends with Justin but make no mistake that their 05 has never ever been 'streetable' in any way shape or form. I also only run 16 lbs max boost right now and will never go over 18 for exactly that reason. (sleeves) But hell, If I got a 9.6x at a bad track with 4080 lbs and a bad launch, then I don't need more than 18 lbs ever...lol

hey no fair i thought u said ur turning up the wick!! only 2 lbs come on... ur just getting started.. come on dont "BABY it"... lol just teasing...

streetable is a term that needs defining in the car community, could be just being able to drive normal to some and to other to pass inspection and all and not be followed by the cops everytime..

Well in the JPC case he is right. that car is not streetable, its striped inside though it has the 6 disc cd changer, it has aluminum flywheel ,aluminum axles (suck on the street) and a clutch you wouldnt want on the street. it also does not have anything powered on the pulley and all that was on the car before the heads were off of it the first time or the nitrous or procharger was hooked up. Justin would even tell you that car hasnt even been in a realm of streetable from the time it was running 11s on stock heads and cams n/a. And im not so sure everything on it is "off the shelf" the intake is custom but him and the heads werent anything your ordering online either.

I don't ever need more than 18 lbs. If I need more, I just up the shot of the juice. I honestly believe this car can see an 8 sec time slip with 18 lbs. and a 175 shot. I'm keeping the creature comforts like AC, both seats, shaker system, power everything, etc. I like the car to be 'comfy'...
