Cowl Hood Help

I am looking at purchasing cowl hood, either Cervini’s 2.5” cowl or Steeda Ultralite Cowl. Any advice and is Steeda hood worth the extra money? Anyone have good picture of underside of either of these? Thanks...

Cervini’s 2.5” cowl
Cannot comment on the other one. Have a Cervini cowl but it's the 4 inch, 2.5was not available at the time. The 2.5 inch is more than enough. 4 inch looks fine at the track and blends in well with other traffic, but too much for the street. Quality is very good. Car has limited street use but top speed at the track is steadily rising. No shaking at 100+ and no need for hood pins...yet lol

i personally don't like the look of the steeda. both seem to have good reputations. i wouldn't go cheap when it comes to a hood though.

Steeda if you are going cowl there is no better hood to be had and the race version is like 9lbs lighter than stock

Thanks for all the advice. I would not mind going with the Cervini "67 style hood to go with my GT/CS package but my 2008 Whipple S/C non/intercooled came with an "ugly" air box (See picture) with a hump that was crushing my liner forcing me to cut a small portion of it off so my hood would shut properly. I am concerned if I get a hood that has the routed airflow that sits right over the box, it may not leave anough clearance.

I'd love to get rid of box and go with aftermarket intake but I was told that would mess up my FRPP tune.

in case no one has told you they made this new invention a while back. it's called a dynamometer. when you hook up your car to this certain people that are trained in tuning your cars computer can adjust for the differences needed to make the aftermarket intake work you'll likely gain some hp and have a better safer tune also.......well as long as you have a good tuner. and yes i do know i'm a smart ass

Ya, I took my car to this Mustang shop "Mustang Muscle Performance" in St Louis and they Dyno'd my car after putting gears on and tuned it with a diablosport predetor and messed up my car so bad that I had to take it back to Ford guy who installed my blower who had to re-train my computer just to get it running again. So you can see why I am trying to stay with "safe tunes.

that's why you have to do some homework when looking for a tuner. don't just walk in off the street to anyone that has a dyno and claims to be able to tune your car.

I have seen the steeda street cowl with a kenne bell, and its a great hood and has plenty of space for the SC. And the Race hood will have a bigger opening at the peak of the cowl.
street: 50% opening at the peak of the cowl on driver side.
RACE: (9 pounds lighter) 100% opening at the peak of the cowl.

Thanks for your advice Navyman8903, I have heard from a few other people that the Steeda Cowl is a good hood.
