OCTANE question
Hey all, when I bought my 07, they told me that the Mustang is made to run on 87 octane and that higher octane isnt good for it.... So for a moment I will assume that is true until you experts set me straight. My question is this, is it ok to run acouple tanks of 93 octane before I load the Brenspeed tune to insure its all 93 in the tank, will 93 without a tune affect my engine?
Yeah this may be a dumb question, but rather clear it up now instead of after I did somethign wrong lol. |

Whoever told you that is full of it. You don't need to run 93 octane but your car will run slightly smoother and have less chance of detonation. They probably meant don't use ethynal. It sometimes can gunk things up.
So yes. Actually, all you have to do is run your tank down to where your display reads zero miles ( this means there is roughly one gallon left ) then fill you tank with 93. Run it down a quarter of a tank then refill again and you should be ok to load your 93 octane tune. If you really wanna be safe you can run a full tank of the 93 through and load your tune on the next refill. |

they are bone heads. It won't hurt to run a higher octane on a stock tune. It just doesn't have any advantage over the 87 octane untill you tune the car for it.

Yeah.
To be safe, run it down and fill her up with 93 a couple times.
