Kooks LT's . . . Cat'd X . . . and?
Guys,
Bought the Kooks LT's and Kooks Cat'd X from RadMustangs last night. Can't wait to begin installing. Gonna do it myself . . . I'll attempt to do a write-up for everybody. Two Questions: 1) What's your opinion of an axel-back specifically with this combo 2) Any tips on avoiding drone (or anything else) before I get started? Let's hear it

Hey man i was just going to respond to your pm but ill just do it in the open.
best thing to do would be tell me/us which axle backs you have heard on videos and liked. You ask if corsas were stingers. No they are not. Borla makes stingers. and ford racing sells the stingers under the name 5GTs. Corsa are good and a lot of money and yes they are suppose to have zero drone. I think the x pipe helps with drone anyway. When i put the H pipe on my car. The drone was unbearable with as loud as these kooks are. with the x pipe on i have no drone with the same kooks axle backs on. If you like the corsa's, i would look in the family of corsa, kooks, or magnapacks, None of them have terrible drone with the x pipe. the magnapacks have a little at 1900. If you like the stingers then i would look at stingers, MBRP race axle backs, also sold under the steeda name for 425. or maybe some bassani, if you dont like the bassani race axle backs look at the bassani SS axle backs. Redfire has them on his car with a x pipe and i think they sound good with an x pipe. Dont count out those mbrp, or steeda race axle backs, they sound done right nice with long tubes and a x pipe. The only car that i ever chased down and said what exhuast is that, it was those axle backs with long tubes and x pipe. usually im the one getting ask that question. they are deep and growl. Now on vulume, you said you dont mind loud but not to loud. Um, that rules the kooks out, and probably the corsa's. Alright enough babling for now. tell me what you like in a vid and i can help you more and i might be able to tell you if the vid is accurate. i think i hated the X pipe paired the the chamberd muffiler
i still have my X pipe on the car with the stock muffiler and stinger are about to go on i loved the volume that came out i just didnt like the sound the MAcs made |

oh btw i ended up picking up an o/r x pipe and i had the GTA's on i hated the stupid ring/pop at WOT. so ya now i've got my stockers back on too. let me know how those stingers sound PLZ!!!! how much did they run you anyway?

brand new stingers for 398 thanks to radmustang =] but i think he out of them right now not sure yall have to ask him
and i sure will let you know how thay sound if thay sound like poops i guess when i order the Kooks LT ill go with a H but if it sound good ill go with a X

i was just kidding but still a great idea. lol
since i've got an o/r x pipe, when i change out my axle backs ever-so-often, i always start my car when i've got em off and........oooooohhhhhhhhhhh i hate emissions!

no i don't think so....
BUT i get a NASTY rubbing/grinding/something-loose-and-i-don't-know-what-it-is sound. it's not terribly loud but it's noticeable. it almost sounds like there's a quarter on a table and a tractor is driving by the house...sry i'm from the country its the only analogy i've got lol. but as far as the actual exhaust sound in general..i'm actually impressed...but i know with something like stingers i'll have MUCH MUCH better flow as opposed to stock shit..you know? |

Thanks for the info guys.
Loud is not a problem. Deafening is a problem . . . so probably won't be going with the open headers . . . but I will probably crank it up and take it for a quick drive once I get the headers on ![]() Not ruling the stingers out . . . not really ruling anything out at the moment Let me find some vids that I like and we'll go from there.

btw, (especially you, bulldog)
so there i was, draggin' main and i see a previous generation corvette trying to intimidate this also previous gen mustang GT (id say 02). they do a couple of testosterone filled take offs and a few drive bys. from my outside understanding, the stang seemed to be mostly stock. they vette is drivin by some old old guy and is waiving for more. so, being in the back, i downshift to 2nd and do a good mean zoom-by. the vette pulls up and does the same. unfortunately, we didnt get a full one-on-one, but he rolled down his windows and specifically complimented my exhaust. i told him it was just a stock system without cats and he gave me the 'impressed look' and told me it really sounded good. moral of the story: make old guys proud of ya. ![]() (btw it's an o/r x pipe and stock axles--by choice) |
