Keep in mind weight on the camaro. And wait to see what it does. Dont be intimidated or impressed by some random 422 hp number. how efficeint is at getting it to the wheels, even in a manual. The stangs are pretty damn good only losing 12% stock. Shit that manual camaro could end up dynoing at 360 with 400more plbs puts it at a comparable 320, thats a stang with bolt ons and gears and the chevy is done.

422 is nothing. ill peel the paint of that new chevy even with bolt ons.

Well back to cams.....this thread I created is almost 10 pages! Yeah stang you should be hitting mid 11s next spring with current mods and drag wheels with semi slicks! Well don't I feel special...all of y'all have seasonal racing while the track in Freezing Miami is open all year long but I refuse to hit the track again until I buy 15" with semi slicks and hit 7.9/12.5 and then cams and converter 7.5/11.8

Why? It is fun to go to the track as much as possible for two major reasons:
1) you see how much each little mod helps your times and trap
2) you get more practice and its fun as hell

In response to your comments, here are the major reasons:

1) Well the last mod was 7 months ago
2) I already wasted my 26" 285/35 street radials and just finished putting new 27" 285/40 on which are gonna slow me down anyways
3) I want track only wheels/ tires so I don't get vibration from uneven thread from daily tires that get burnt out during track use
4) I want track only wheels/tires so I can knock off .6
5) These 18 x 10 with street tires slow me down .2 from stock ones
6) I have also broken my record three times in the past couple weeks!!
7) All of the above plus, why continue in same time frame, it's time to save up and get some good traction and acceleration which I'm debating on getting it done this month......and seriously beat the last record without adding horsepower and beating those stock turbo 24psi lancers and shut them up!!!!!!!!
I'm also debating if I should get the spr cam with converter so I can beat the upgraded turbo lancer pushing 26psi......I definitely want these things....who wouldn't....but with the way the economy is maybe I should wait till it picks up and I start making overtime.

Could I have a general mechanic install the sprIIs and then drive 60 miles to get a tune, or is that bad? How much ACTUAL labor time is it? 6 hours? I know they will probably charge 1.5 or double the labor hours.

Probably 6 hours if its your first time. A decent mechanic that works on modulars regularly, probably more like 4. I've never had a set of 3 valve heads apart and I'm fairly certain, after looking at the instructions, that I could do it in around 6 takin' my sweet ass time and taking pictures.

so is it ok to drive on sprIIs for 60 miles without tune in order to get a dyno tune?

Yes.... the car just won't get max performance out of the cams until tuned but it won't throw any codes either or run much different. When I did my first set, we drove the car 30 miles to the dyno afterwards, and other than the idle couldn't really tell much difference. Then again, I drove it normal without hot rodding it.

spr stage II cams are a lot different then vsr cams. Much more aggressive.
