Doesn't seem to start in cold?

Hey guys i know when its cold and you had an older car it was hard to get your car started on the first start. Just recently its been cold here and when i try to start it it just dies, then when i try it a second time it idles very rough almost like i had huge cams. Have to say sounds kinda mean but is this normal? this is of course when my car has been sitting out in the cold i have no problem when its in my garage. myabe i need to reflash it again or just email Doug maybe he knows whats up.

I know the s197 have a battery problem in the cold. As for the idle does it go away when it warms up, does it do it in the cold in a warm startup

Try turning your key forward just before ignition. You will hear 3 or 4 clicking noises similar to when you load a tune to your computer. Then continue to turn key to start car.

how's it going aper.....i'm no expert by
any means, but i have to think it may be
related to the cams. i know when i was
runnning my hot rods and the weather started
getting colder, i could tell that my engine was
much more cold blooded than with my stock
cams.

i'm not sure a tweak to the tune would help
or not.

again, i'm just speculating here....good luck
and i hope it starts working better for you

It makes the clicking noise immediately. If i don't hear it i just continue turning the key and start the car. I have no idea what the clicking is related to i just know when i do it the car starts on the first turn every time. Idle shoots up to about 1500 then slowly drops down to normal idle.

If i don't wait for the clicking the car wont start on the first try and on the second it will start, but the idle jumps to 2000 and bounces up and down for a while.

The clicking noise maybe the fuel pump working?

My cams have made it a little rought starting. i gotta give it some gas sometimes. Was never like that on the NSR cams, but i never tuned the NSR cams, i think you got a tune for it.

if you keep your car in a garage it helps. And if you need to pop your hood a buy a light bulb and put it under your hood a few hours before starting or overnight. just a small light will do. That is what I use to do with the mazda and it helped.
