Me + BMW M5 @ 150mph = bye bye engine!

Well it finally happened. I blew the engine after a shift from 4th at 6500rpm into 5th. I hit 5th for a bit let out of it and noticed a nice bright red oil pressure indicator. Red = 0 pressure. I pulled over and notice the engine was running but rough, I turned it off. This was Christmas night at about 10pm 40 miles inbetween each little city (Barstow and Baker, CA).

New game plan:

ST Motorsports is going to build me a iron block, forged rotating assembly, short block. I think I'll get cams while I'm apart. I told Adam to build me a motor that will be happy at 550rwhp or so and have no problems with extended time at 6,000+ rpm. He seems to have something for me.

I am a little bit different than most here, I am less into drags and more into high speed, high rpm runs.

On a positive note I put the whoopstick on a BMW M3 in the twisties in the back hills of San Diego before the whole blow up thing..hahahah!

there's this one company I'll try and find the name again but basically what they do is you send them your newly forged engine block and they like deep freeze it, causing all of the metal molecules to realign perfectly. Long story short they make your engine block or any steel product like 10x stronger and it will last ALOT longer.

Ya the term is Cryo (sp). We use it on our race cars.

iron block will hold in way too much heat especially if you're going to be reving that motor to high RPM

thats where you killed the motor. you took it way to much rpms. they run out of fuel at 6200 once they are boosted, thats what kills them is over revving them and thats to much on the boosted stock motor

I have enough fuel at 6500rpm on the last 40 dyno runs but hey maybe something changes on the street.

and what kind of dyno where you on. becasue under a load things change and if you werent dynod on a mustang dyno you were not tested under load and if thats the case, thats your problem. the factory fuelk stuff on a stock motor with blower will start leaning out around 6200.
