Installing Kooks LT tomorrow

I'm installing a set of Kooks LT headers tomorrow morning. I was wondering what to use to clean the head after I pull the stock manifold off? Also, should I use loctite on header bolts? Also any tips or tricks for a better install would be appreciated

BTW I've got to give a big thanks to radmustangs for a good deal and great customer service.

Thanks,

Adam

I just used like carb or brake cleaner to clean the surfaces of the head and headers.

USA's info is good advice and works great for cleaning.

Tips for install:
  • Do not use locktite, get some locking bolts if your worried about them backing out.
  • take your time
  • If you have a strut tower brace, remove it before raising the motor for header install clearance
  • Beers on hand

plenty of searchable info here that will help in making the job tolerable.

headers are not bad as long as you have beer, decent tools, and use common sence. also a lift can come in handy.

finally done.....and the bitch of it all I didn't get to start it yet because it's 3 am here and everyone is sleepin.

Install wasn't that bad, just time consuming......had problems with my jack and the 02 extension didn't fit so I had to cut and splice. I did the whole thing solo cuz my buddy dogged out on it.

One other thing that held me back was the bolt on top of the starter. When I was putting the starter back on I spent 45 minutes under the car trying to get at that flippin bolt. I finally got out from under the car to post here about what a dumbass I am cuz I cant get this bolt in, and ask for help, but I happened to take a glance from the top view of the motor and it was easy to get from that angle.

They look sexy as hell though, kinda makes the rest of the engine bay look bad. I will post some pics tomorrow

Got it started today.....no leaks and sounds bad ass.

I did get a CEL, haven't checked it yet though.

One other thing I haven't tested yet, I had bamachips turn off Traction control permanently in the tune for the LT's but the light on the TC button is not lit like when you push it to manually turn it off. My question is when TC is turned off in the tune does the TC button not light up?

A long long extension from the front of the motor gets that starter bolt in quick. I used a plastic scraper and mineral spirits to clean the heads. Congrats on a long install. Did you change out the squishy stock motor mounts?
