05+ Stang vs. 08 Camaro & Challenger
Hi:
We all love Mustangs. No question about it. What do you guys think of the coming up Challenger and Camaro? Do you think the 05 Mustang will stack up well against these or do you think we'll have to wait for the new Mustang? Would you hang out on a site that compares the 3 biggest Muscle cars ever made and and tailors to the needs of those Fans? I'm a huge Ford Mustang fan but I also think some competition is going to make it more interesting and it's only going to push Ford to make the Mustang even better...

I am planning to buy a challenger when they come out. I'm keeping the mustang of course unless I can get a Shelby, then I may part with it. It would be cool to have a collection of muscle cars. I'd probably check out the site you are talking about but I doubt it will be better than this site. I'm open minded though and there is time to look at more than one site.

i think dodge and chevy will give ford a big run for its money with the challenger and camaro.. however, if the giugiario (however the hell its spelled) mustang does have 500hp as stated, it will be like the 60's and 70's all over again..
and about a site that caters to each of those cars listed, i dont think its such a great idea.. too much flaming and arguments would be going on there lol

Mustang has always been the real deal.
There is just nothing like a Mustang. Never has been.
Dodge and Chevrolet have tried to jump on the bandwagon before. Stick with the Stang and if you are concerned about these cars outperforming it, this forum is proof in itself of what can be done to these amazing little pony cars. |

I imagine the new Camaro will have the 6.0L 400HP that will run similar times as the 6.0L GTO, maybe a hair quicker due to slightly lighter weight. In addition , figure the Challenger to run the SRT8 425HP motor and also be slightly lighter in weight. Our 300HP Stangs won't beat them - however , I don't know anyone with a STOCK STANG!

There are a couple of interesting threads on these cars:
Challenger Camaro The Challenger thread is about a concept drag car made just for SEMA, but the basic look of the car is the same. I was reading an article in I believe, Motor Trend, that said both GM & Dodge were having trouble meeting the price point of the Mustangs. The article I read stated that Dodge had all but scrapped the 6 cyl version of it's car. I'll see if I can track down that issue, I think it's in my truck at work. While most of us here may not be interested in that version of the car, that is a HUGE segment of the market. Just look how popular the 6 - banger Stang is here on our own forums. Younger guys who can't afford the GT insurance are able to purchase the 6, and still get a car that flips 15 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Remember the days when that was the time for some GT's ? Not to mention what guys are getting out of these 6's with a few mods. My point is, if Dodge & GM make their cars a few or more thousand dollars more expensive than the Mustang, and don't even make an entry level model, I think they may have problems meeting the success of the Stang. That being said, I love the Challenger, and would consider one if the price is right.

Wait and see.
The 400 plus horse pretenders will be thousands more than a GT, if they produce such a car. Hey, for 6 grand a Stang can be over 400 hp. And Ford can come up with a lot of new ideas before these concept cars are a reality. Sorry, when you bought a new 19641/2 289 4 spd Mustang when they were first introduced, as I did you kind of become attached to them and Camaros and Challengers just do not hit the mark. Yes, I am an old timer and I have driven Fords since my first one, a 1953 flathead. My blood runs blue.
