Race cars don't have them and I think they are at a higher chance to catch on fire than stock S197s.

they also have fire extinguishing systems in them... works a little better than a hood blanket lol

so we can deduce from this that their hood looks great, but they dont care if your shit burns to a crisp.

its is a shitty fire retardant... by the time the platic tabs melt, everything but the block and heads will be toast... really... ask me how I know..

my car caught on fire TWICE this week.. ha. ha. ha..

We were looking at how the paint isn't on very heavy on most factory hoods. Of course the stock blanket won't fit on an aftermarket hood because they have different undersides that do not match up to the stock blanket's molded shape. Just a misunderstanding.

2006YellowGT: What ever happened with your motor popping after the turbo install? The shop take care of it or what happened?

I know of quite a few race cars that don't have any type of fire extinguishing system.

The point is that the stock hood liner sucks and it doesn't work that well. Take it out and you're not going to die because of it.

The shop still has my car. (been there since August 1) they got a new motor in last week, and should start taking mine out this week and put the other one in.

I removed mine.

Thin paint in the hood scoop underside area is thin, but it looks fine.

I live in South Hill VA... its about 1.5 hours south of richmond.. yall going to richmond dragstrip or dinwiddie?

just going to sand the hood down and shoot it with some clear... its a fiberglass SLP hood and would cost me around $1000 to get another one... GM contracted with SLP back then to take a stock Z28 and transform it into a SS or firebird to a Trans WS6.

SLP was kinda like Ford SVT... but not run by ford make any sense?
