CHE Stabilizer bracket or MGW Shifter upgrade
Looking for some advice from others that might have had similar issues shifting the 5sp in our cars.
I have missed the 3-4 shift a few times under heavy laod. It feels as though there is a barrier between 3-4 and I cannot move the shifter into 4th. I have read some other posts where it happens a lot while drag racing or under heavy stress high rpm situations. Some folks run a che engineering k member brace View the V8 K-Member Brace with Engine Torque Limiters<br>Part # CHE7LA at http://www.cheperformance.com and I see where some run the MGW shifter Mustang Shift Handle If anyone on this forum has some feedback to share I would appreciate it. I currently have a hurst shifter that is very notcy and with the drag racing setup I am running smooth quick shifts are more important than looks at this time in the game Thanks

Is doing both not an option?

I prob will go with the MGW first and sell the Hurst for the funds to pay for the CHE bracket later. Souns like a plan. Anything to keep from missing the 3-4 shift again.

By the way, I had the CHE K Member Brace (Rod Ends) on my car and ended up taking it off because it started making way more noise, washers got continually bent, and it would never stay adjusted and just cause worse shifting because it was binding up.

Go MGW and you really should have some poly motor mounts with that Paxton too if you don't already.

MGW and BMR K-Member with the poly mounts. Which is worthless advice from me since I have neither, but have the CHE-Torque limiters and love them.
![]() Good luck and post pics and tech advice and feedback when you get what you get and get it installed!

Pics/tech advice forthcoming as mods go in. Should I be hesitant posting up tech notes when a lot of others have already done the same or post away to keep the forums "fresh"..
Ordered the MGW shifter to start with. I am on my 3rd or 4th wave of MODs now so I need to slow down. This month's list of Mods going in or done. * gt500 pump-on workbench install begins this weekend * shelby 2 5/8" tripple gauge cluster (boost, fuel and oil) should receive gauge pod tomorrow * removing sway bar (tough since air/air pipes wrap around it) * welded in BMR LCA brackets - DONE ;-) * adjusted pinion angle * New TUNE at injected engineering schedule for Nov 13, 09 getting ready for a club track meet where a GTO Procharged friend called me out. Gotta show him who is the boss ya know...

Detailed write-ups are good, pictures of tricky installation points are even better and while shifters have been done to death, any additional installation or first hand qualitative technical feedback (more than just: it feels good!) is a good thing. I don't think anyone has ever begrudged a forum member for posting an install writeup, unless of course it's done wrong or something. ![]() Have fun with the upgrades!

Good luck with that Procharged GTO. What's he been doing at the track? He got tires too? If you have Mickeys let her rev over 4500 on the launch.

He is a AUTO, Procharged and MTs. He has been racing for a while so he has the track time over me. We went to highschool together and recently caught up afte 20 years I used to roll with a 65 mustang and he had a plymouth valiant. We joked him a lot but he took it well. He's prob thinking...time for some payback. We shall see. Wonder what the procharged GTO is capable of. I suspect low 11s.

Man 07 stroker. That's not promising. I am only seeing some lockout between 3-4.
The MGW arrived today. I am impressed with the engineering that went into that shifter. Can't wait to get it in this weekend. Will update in a week or so after I had a chance to install and write up a tech article.
