i'm not going w/sportline because the drop is 2 in rear & i think 1.5 fr and someone already posted that they were changing them because of scaping all the time. so i'm thinking of going bmr's 1.25 fr-1.75 r which is still a nice drop

No problems, running Sportlines, i'll drag if I go over a speed bump too quick on the stock wheels. I ran them almost a year on 20s and while the ride was pretty harsh it wasn't unbearable and the 20s helped me just clear speedbumps fine.

the size of rim isn't going to effect the cars hight. that will be changed by the hight of the tire. you can have a factory tire hight on the 20's also you just have to know what you are ordering when you get them. like the factory tire size for me was 235/55 18 when i change to aftermarket rims i still have 18's but now my tire size is 255/40 18 and 285/40 18. the tire hight is vertually the same for the rear tires and just a bit shorter than stock on the front.

the tire size 285/40 18....

the 285 is the width of the tire and the 40 meants the hight of the tire is 40% of the width. the 18 of course is just the rim size

Sportlines are great on the 05+ stangs...I would highly recommend them...Also you are going to need camber bolts...But t is worth it...
