I ordered the aluminum - $600 shipped is the best price around town that I have seen for a "brand new" aluminum driveshaft for the 05+ model. Everyone else is around $679-$900+shipping. It should arrive next week.

600 bucks is really not a lot for a nice performance piece when you consider how much other performance modifications can be.

That's what I was thinking...we have a Ford Racing aluminum driveshaft (96-04 GT and 96-98 Cobra) for $269.99...

But do you have one for the 05+ cars ?

I'm sure there must be a price difference for the newer cars. From what I've read the newer cars have a slightly more complicated setup.

does anyone have an idea how long they last. one website said 50,000mi but i thought that sounded like too short of a lifespan.

I live right by Denny's driveshaft and was going to vivit them next week as I am also considering a driveshaft upgrade.
I'm pretty sure my mind is made up to buy the "Nitrous Ready" one they have for $595.
I'll post again if there's anything new......

Just had it installed today at my mechanic - $74 labor. Very noticable weight difference between the 2 units. Car seems to rev faster and definitly feels marginaly lighter. Feels like the car has that slight extra "boost" like when I had my underdrive pulleys installed. $579+$29shipping+$74labor=$682 . This mod was NOT worth spending $682, but it is the best price I have seen for this mod for the 05+ Mustangs. This weekend I will do some more "testing".

The Aluminum shaft is cheaper and lighter than the Carbon Fiber, Is the vibration reduction really worth it?

Alu $572
CF $950

To keep the "stock" tune capability - do the DS. If you don't mind reflashing the computer to recalibrate for the 4:10 rear then go with gears. You should also upgrade your traction with 4:10s

HP

All in all I say I probably recovered 8HP that was originaly lost with the stock driveshaft. Any mod that recovers or makes HP is a good mod!
