Ok another question, will taking the mufflers off all together be more or less binificial than a good axel back (mac, borla, loudmouth, flowmaster)

its going to be the same power wise. if you love that sound, buy the SLPs, its EXACTLY the same thing as taking off your mufflers, they just finish the the exhaust by extending the rest of the pipe and seeing the badass 3.5 inch tips!

all axle backs will give you no more than 5HP!

whether its an exhaust kit that has mufflers (Flowmaster, Borla, Mac, Corsa, Magnaflow, DynoMax, IMCO, etc. etc. etc.) or the SLP Loudmouths that have NO MUFFLERS.

The SLPs have resonators, I think like a glasspack, but open headers will decrease your gas mileage, and set off codes.

OK what about this, has anyone ever removed the tail section of the stock exhaust and put a couple of turn downs on the ends of the "H" pipe section. I would think the flow would be improved since it wouldnt have to travel thru the rest of the system, just out the "H" pipe.

No mufflers on my car, baught it that way and it sounds realy good.

the SLPs have NO RESONATORS, its just straight piping and tips. thats it!

oh, you just mean the axlebacks, yeah, basically all that does is put tips on straight pipes...I thought you were referring to the catback they offered...

if you put turndowns off of the H pipe then you would have extreme drone and noise inside the car. although this is nice sounding at first you will most likely become very tired of not being able to have a conversation while driving. i used the slp loudmouths and an frpp x-pipe. no drone and it sounds quieter while inside the car, but damn it's so much louder if you are behind it.

Another + to not having the axel backs is if your cutting weight from the car!I would venture to say you would cut an easy 30lbs by ditching them.Ive already cut a little over 200lbs from my ride and am thinking of getting rid of my MACS and swapping out my battery for a Dynna Max battery(40lbs lighter).That would net me around 70lbs cut from the car.As most people know,every 100lbs is a tenth knocked off your 1/4!

Yea removing the entire tail section, from the passanger compartment back. With just turn downs on the ends of the "H" pipe. I know it will be louder in the car, but as mine is now (w/o any mufflers and just polished 3" tips out the back. just like slp loudmouth) its noticeable inside the car. As far ar drone, it cant be any louder then my SRT4 with a non cated 3" turbo back side exit exhaust.
Just wondering if anyone has ever tried this before. I might try it this weekend and Ill let you all know if I do.

Well I removed the tail section of the exhaust (after H pipe back) and it sounds good. Its not any louder than how it was before (no mufflers, just polished 3" tips out back). I still have to get the turn downs and put them on. I do feel a little more rumbling in the seat of my pants but as far as noise and drone its not bad, atleast to me. Ill drive it for a while and see.
Oh I do still have the stock cats on the car. so that is probably muffling alot of the sound.

ok wait im gona be the stupid one here and ask you people are talking of just removing the mufflers completley from your car right? if so whats involved in doing that, is it legal and again if it is correct i would like to know what parts i need to do this to my 96gt because why buy exhast when you can just remove it lol

the new mustangs, the mufflers are located at the rear of the car. so they are talking about removing the muffler/tip assembly at the rear. it is ILLEGAL to run this kind of setup. but if you buy the SLPs and a cop is behind you, he wont think twice about it and go on his way when he see's an exhaust sticking out of the rear bumper.

the only thing thats involved in doing this is 2 hanger branckers and the exhaust pipe clamp on each muffler and away the rear mufflers come off.

Has anyone used exhaust cut outs on a 2005-07 GT? If so how did it sound, where did you install them along the tail pipes and did you use electronic ones, cable pulls or just regular cut-outs with bolted caps?
I am thinking seriously on installing regular cut outs. I have found them on several sites for 45-50 bucks. Most can be clamped on. Also, did it set off any trouble lights? My car has been flash tuned for a Saleen exhaust with H pipe. I would apprecialte it if anyone can help me here. Thanks, Fomocoro.

what would you want to cutout for, the street or strip? If you have the shorty style headers, you can put the cutout on the downpipe from the headers to the cats...thats what i did on my last car.
If you just wand a different sound when you open them, put them right behind the cats...

I have cutouts on a 2006 gt, you will need to weld them though cutouts and installation was less than 100.00 and they sound great. Located them after the cats just past the door.

Instead of cutouts, I have a full bolt on system. I just take <5 minutes to unbolt my cats and pull em off, its 6 bolts and 2 unplugs, boom, im at open headers
