Factory Alarm Question

Just had an aftermarket alarm installed and when I disarm and open the door right away everything is good. If I disarm and then wait more than 30 seconds before opening a door the horn starts to go off. Just wandering if anyone else has had this problem or knows a solution for it.
Thanks

I have a simular issue, I just bought my 05 GT last week and it has an after market alarm I beleive (unknown what kind). It does what yours does but also every time I get out of the car with the key off the alarm automaticaly arms it's self in like 30 seconds .....very annoying!

is this an issue or just something all mustang alarms do?

also is there anyway to deactivate the horn chirp when you arm with the key fob.

Both of these problems may be fixable depending on the brand of the alarm. West, does the horn sound just if you have'nt opened the door in time or if you have'nt put the key in? I've seen many alarms that have an adjustable delay that will sound the alarm if a certain amount of time passes between disarm and the key being placed in the ignition. My Alpine alarm had that. As for the other guy, same thing. Your alarm is an active system which means it arms itself automatically after a preset amount of time passes after the car has been exited. Some insurance companies actually require this type of alarm in order to recieve thier alarm credit so check with them before having it changed.

Well my alarm uses the factory key fob so anyone have sugestions on how to make it stop arming on it's own mostly or how to disable the horn chirp when you activate it with the fob?

take it back to whomever installed it b/c what happened is that they forgot to wire up the factory alarm arm and disarm with the aftermarket unit that you purchased. Take it back to them and tell them that you talked to another installer and that is what is wrong.

just to be specific, the factory alarm arm and disarm wires could be wired up so that whenever your aftermarket alarm goes off it can go off with it, alot of people tend to not even want it so what we do is to just hook up the factory alarm disarm that way whenever you arm the sytem it disarms the factory alarm so that it does not send off a false signal to the aftermarket that you baught and set it off.

I used to have a Viper alarm that did the same thing on my old impala. I had to take it back to the installer for them to change it.
