? About axle moan/groan TSB

So has any one taken in their car for this TSB? I think a few of you have mentioned it but I cant remember. If so what all does the dealer do to correct this?

C'mon someday has had to have this done I'm sure... I think they have to replace your gears. So I'm wondering if I can convince them to install some 4.10's instead of the 3.55's. Would be covered under warranty that way too. What do you think my chances are?? Worth a shot anyway

I was the one who had a thread going about it. In my car, it was the clutch pack that needed replacing, not the gears, and I am pretty sure that this is the standard fix for this TSB.

I've got the groan!!!

My left axel was replaced for unrelated reasons and now I've got the groan. Never had it before the axel replacement. I told the mechanic about the TSB's and he called a friend at Ford. My mechanic reported back that the Ford mechanic said it might be the clutch, and that my car had had the clutch replaced once already. I'll call the Ford mechanic tomorrow to get more info.

This is one of those times when the " 'ole in and out" really sucks. I've had my car for about 5 driving days out of the last three weeks. And I still have to take it back to the point of sale dealer for repainting the front bumper (the first one started to peel two months after I bought it).

The clutch packs in the Traction loc are what Zip is talking about not the actual clutch in your tranny.
And mike, If you know the service department at your dealership well, they might be able to replace your 3.55 for 4.10s if you paid a little extra. I assume that you bought your car there and possible your 98 their and if you have them service it often then I would say your chances are a lot greater. Because they already have the rear end open, they may just charge you a little, but then again they may charge you full price. Also make sure your dealership is a FRPP dealer, if not you will have to bring them FRPP 4.10s they will definatly not want to mess with anything other than FRPP. Good Luck and let us know!

I think the dealer sold me a pre owned lemon. It's an 05. It's had the gas tank problem that is still not fixed after they swapped the tank. The paint on the front bumper began to peel last month (purchased the car in Dec of 06). Now the groans.

I'm a bit un-nerved about this clutch stuff. I asked my mechanic if the ford mechanic was referring to "the clutch" or the clutch pack. He said the ford mechanic didn't talk about anything that would have indicated anything other than the primary clutch. But I haven't called ford yet so we'll see.

Yeah Matt I did purchase both of them there and get the oil in the new 1 changed there. And they are an FRPP dealer, 1 of the biggest in the nation I believe. So we'll see. I only heard the noise once(and hopefully wont again), but if I do I will try to make the best of a bad situation.......with 4.10's!!

Hey Man I wish you luck! I think that I could get my dealer to do it, we have a 98 Expedition that is there regularly and we bought it there brand new, a 2000 Explorer that has been there a few times and we also had a Ford chassis motorhome that they serviced there. I know my service tech well and he would hook me up!

Don't get too down about a few TSB's or recalls on your ride, guys, especially if you have low miles. Quite often when you buy a new vehicle there is a few bugs to be worked out of them. The first new car I bought was an 00 Focus, and after having the front rotors replaced 3 times, the fuel pump once, the rear hub bearings & spindle assembly twice, and having to get the car repainted, due to a shitty factory paint job, all within the first year, I thought I was going to have to start taking legal action against my dealer. But after the car got about 20,000 miles on it, everything settled down and it was basically a good car for the next 110,000 miles I put on it.

I just think its pretty shotty of Ford to be honest. Hey I am a huge Ford/Mustang follower, but its kinda crazy. I bought my 98 new and had nothing like this going on with it, besides chance of plastic intake cracking. No probs and now the 06 has a novel of TSB's on it. Its all good I'm not upset just dissapointed.

I hear ya man. I still have an ongoing brake issue with mine, in another thread about 3 pages in to this forum section. Not sure if it's fixed yet, as it just got repaired yesterday, but I'll be updating that thread when I know.
