A couple of tuning questions for 07 GT

I think I've seen a couple of people around with 07's that have gotten some tunes from bamachips, so first question, is that true?

Ok now a couple of noob questions probably, I tried doing some searching, but didn't really come up with answers to specifically these:

Here goes the other question:

If I get a tuner, how easy is it to revert to the factory tune? I think I saw somewhere someone said you can "receive" the tune on the box and store it, is that true?

I ask this, because if you get somewhere and you want to go completely stock, you can pull mods off, but can you reflash your original tune back on?

Thanks again, I think I'll keep this forum

I just saw this on bamachip's site after re-reading it

Then if you decide to sell the vehicle or go in for emissions/warrenty repair justplug it in and return it to the stock calibration.
I guess I'm just weary of running into problems while flashing or running a tune

Its pretty easy to change it back to your OE tune.... when you first pull your tuner into your car it takes a few mintues to "backup" your factory tune... then theres always a selection @ the bottom of ur tuner list that says "factory tune"

Thats pretty refreshing to know... I dont feel intimidated by them (as much) now Does the tuner stay plugged in all the time or just when loading to the car?

And next comes the big question I'm sure everyone asks: tunes are pretty cheap, exhaust is similar in price... which to get first?!!?!

I would go with a tuner... I'm using a DiabloSport Predator tuner, the retail is like 379$ and I have them on my site, for about 369$ shipped so you cant go wrong with that.. the tuner is going to have 3 tunes pre-loaded and tunes for all kinds of performance parts.. such as for a JLT intake, cmrc delete plates, MMR intakes... things like that that's something the new SCT's dont have ... read what happened with my cousin...

he bought a predator off me... then a friend of mine sold him his jlt intake because he went supercharged, and we knew this intake would need a specific tune.. so we went down to our local brother shop to slap it on the dyno to see how far the tune the predator had was, and it was quite off... so he payed the tuner there for an hour of custom tuning and in the end, he had 289rwhp bone stock except for the jlt and the tune.. but the tune was not safe and the A/F was pretty dangerous... so he was told to use a higher octane fuel... so he payed for that hour session and we drove home.. and i still spanked his car.

we got home and he was on the scared side because the tune wasnt as safe as he expected.. so he went on the diablosport site, and discovered his predator already had the specific tune loaded on it. HAHAHAH!!! all you had todo was go to OEM Select and select the brand, and it shows you a list of performance parts...

it was hilarious as hell.. what should of been a 15 min bolt-on... ended up being 2 days and more $

just for not reading.

Here's a little tip you might want to have: If you have loaded "custom" tunes from a Predator (Bamachips, for example) and then reload your stock tune it will reset the Predator and erase the custom tunes. If you have custom tunes on a Predator it's a good idea to download them to your computer so that you can reload them if you need to.

Go with the SCT X-CAL 2 from Bamachips. Doug is great to work with. When you get an intake go with the JLT, its the best!!

I think that's definitly doable, thanks for that tip too!

Will getting a tuner not be as noticable or give as much gain on the 5-spd manual as it does on the automatic?

It deff gets better results for an auto cuz it changes shifts points and takes out that stupid lag...either way I say its best 1st mod

But here's the question, if the improvements aren't as much as one would hope for a manual... would that money be better spent on exhaust now... then I can get a bigger better performance mod later this year... like *cough* supercharger?

The tune in combination with a CAI from bamachips or whoever will make a difference no matter what trans you have. If you're just going to get the tune, than you may want to explore other mods first. Some say the best first mods are gears or exhaust...

cai and tune is far better, i was just sayin the manual vs auto it shows more of a difference in auto cuz shift points change and lag is away....

but i did axles first yeah i love the sound of the slp lms but i want to get rid of that lag... fuckin autos...anyway i plan on gettin jlt and sct x-cal tuner from bama within the month

if i had the choice to do it over id get cai and tuner then slp lms....the lms r good its sound u dont really get a gain and compare the axles to cai n tune ...i just dont see a comparison 30 rwhp+ and better responsce on throttle, better shift points for me, less lag... just no way near close...

Yea I definitly can see why autos would want to fix their shift points + get rid of lag. I guess the thing for me is I have really been dreaming of supercharging, so I don't want to do too much because that will postpone my supercharge! I would do it if there was a bigger different for the manuals, maybe I should find someone that is local that has a tuner so I can actually experience the tunes on a GT... wonder if that would convince me they are worth it?

I don't race at all right now, so that's why I'm not jumping all over tuning yet at least

I had a CAI on my last car and the difference it made was pretty small, plus it was a 4cyl

It also sounds like from reading bamachips description, you get more torque gain then anything, is that right, does anyone have some real life numbers about those gains?

I'm trying to search to find dynos now, but not many just tuners on cars, most have other stuff too...

I guess the last part of my last post that question could be answered by what you're saying here for an auto you get all that stuff ^^^ right?

So for a manual I lose everything except the extra 30rwhp?

Sorry if I'm being stupid or naiive to
