Need quick answer on Rim size and tires for a new Mustang

Hey guys,

I'm buying a new Grabber Orange Mustang next week and trading out the standard 17" rims and tires for some new rims and tires but I don't know what size I should get.

I would like to keep all the rims and tires the same size on the front and back if possible.

Just a note, I will be installing the Whipple Supercharger so want tires that can stick pretty good, but also offer an ok ride... and what size rims will fit them?

I would like to stick with an 18" rim if possible, but i'm not sure if i need 18x9 18x8.5 or 18x9.5 ... and i'm not sure what tires fit on each of those sizes.

Thanks in advance!

you should go with 18x9's if you want the same size all the way around. 255/45/18 would be a good size. If you want any bigger, you can't go bigger than 275's in the front.

I have the Steeda Ultralita 18x9.5 with 285/35/18 Nitto 555's. The only thing if you get 18x9 or 18x9.5 and lower the car you can run into problems when turning left. The main computer wiring harness runs behind the inner fender wheel well on the passenger side and you can rub the harness ( SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE) had to take clips out and move harness up. I mean the new $1700.00 new one from Ford

SORRY SO LONG BUT LETTING YOU KNOW OF POTIENTAL PROBLEMS WITH WIDE WHEELS

IF IT ISN'T LOWERED THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN

i would suggest an 18x8 or 9 front with 275 40 18s, and then go with a 18x9 or 10 rear with 305 35 18 rears, to hold that whille down...lol...

nitto nt555 fronts and nitto nt555R drag radials rear, good mileage from drags, so they are good, i run them on my car, and love them...
and close to factory sidewall height, but a little lower maybe...

with the right offset 18x9 all around should be ok. do your research and get the right rim for your application.

what brake rotors, and calipers do you have?. what brake upgrades do you have planned? gotta make sure the new wheels clear the rotors/calipers.

i don't recommend the use of wheel spacers.

if you lower (springs), you must realign. eliminating bumpsteer looks like a good idea.

2k05gt made a mustang tire/gear calculator here (excel spreadsheet)
