Intake Spacer. Fact or Myth?

I just found a Steeda intake spacer that claims gains in hp & mileage.
Anyone have one of these, and/or know if they actually work, or are they a waste of cash? I know that many have had issues with changing the actual TB, but I wonder if the spacer works. I figure if it does add even just a couple horse, then wth, it's worth a hundie.

Thanks

It seems your hesitant to go with an aftermarket T/B and its no doubt that people on this forum have had their fair share of issues. I installed the BBK on my car without a single issue and I'm convinced that when I programmed the car it made that much more of a difference. And if your into this kinda stuff it made a cool whistling sound at part throttle and made a significant diff in the sound created up front with an aftermarket intake, a much healthier throatier sound over what the intake already does. It comes with extremeley good instructions and installs in less than an hour, the only drawback was if you have a plenum cover you cant reuse it.

If you read his thread it was apparent he was considering the spacer in lieu of getting the T/B becuz of others having problems with them. I was just giving him my 2 cents on what I thought about the T/B becuz I think it would be a legitimate and better mod than the spacer.

I installed a spacer like that on my 99 Jeep Wrangler. It came with the same claim that by causing the air to spin as it went through the throttle body that it caused better combustion and all that jazz. I think once I added headers, high flow cats and a K&N CAI it may have contributed an extra hp or 2 and possibly another 1 mpg on top of what I gained from all the other mods. For $100 on a v8 mustang it might be worth it costwise but that damn whistling sound is annoying and the more air you give it the louder it whistles. That's my 2 cents.

Why is no one posting on here about putting a Cobra throttle body on? It seems that should be a no hassle solution.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'll try a spacer, just for the hell of it. I do so much highway driving, even if all I get is a touch better mileage during normal (snicker) driving, it's worth the hundie.
As for the TB, I'll maybe take a chance on that.
