New drivehsaft gettin here tommorow!!!

Well, I called around to every distributor that sold aluminum DS's for our cars. Everyone had the same story about Dana Spicer goin through bancruptcy and that they couldnt tell me how long it would take before they could get one for me, soooooooo, I called the Driveshaft Shop which is located here in NC and the guy tells me "look our steel one is stronger and weighs only 4lbs more than the aluminum, so the diff in weight is negligible and that the steel tends to be less vibration prone" so they sold me on the steel DS. They finished building it friday so it should be here tommorow or tuesday. I cant wait to get rid of that damn hanger bearing and that DS that looks like it belongs under an F-350. Cant wait to let yall know how differently the cars drives, I'm sure it will be huge!!

You will notice a big difference. I have the carbon fiber in mine, and wow, how much smoother the ride is. Also felt faster of course.

Give me some feedback after you get your new shaft in, my tuner who is doing my Helion install also installs aluminum driveshafts and I think it costs around $700.... wondering if it is worth it....

no it doesn't need a tune. the reason for it being faster is the rotational weight between the transmission and the rear end is greatly decreased. it doesn't give you any horsepower at the motor but they have seen as mush as 15 rear wheel increase when removing the stock shaft and replacing with a one piece lighter one. reduces drive train loss, it is more efficient.

cool...i thought maybe the rotational increase required a re-tune....thanks for clarifying that...

If you install your own...

DON'T OVER TIGHTEN the Pinion Flange nut and for the LOVE of GOD don't use an impact wrench either.

It's a shame that statement was not in my install instructions.

700$ mistake.

I heard that with the aluminum driveshafts they tend to brake off at high speeds 100+. Is this true?

It has happened but it's not the norm.
If they fail it's usually due to a bad install.

Driveshaft safety loops can provide some security in the event of catastrophic failure and they aren't that expensive.
