The viscosity is rated by the oil industry. If 2 oils have the same viscosity, they should perform similarly. Is some oil better than others ? Sure, but remember, all oil is produced by a very small # of companies. SO there are many cross company brandings

royal purple, amsoil, castrol, all full syns have that gain.
I had an article faxed to me when I worked at an oil place of an independent test done, AMSOil cam out on top, then the european castrol...royal purple was 7th out of 9...it held waaaay too many metallic particles, and even pieces...thats when I switched. Amsoil 0w20 full syn and k&N filter...

Synthetic oil is synthetic oil is synthetic oil...you're gonna see better performance, less burn off, and better protection no matter what brand you get. I change my oil and filter every 5000, and the oil still looks brand new at the change...it doesn't soak up crap in the carbon and push it through your motor like conventional oil...puts it in the filter where it belongs. If your oil is still clear when you drain it, that's a good indication that it's working properly, and your motor is still sealed up and getting the protection it needs.

Doesn't hurt to have an oil sample analysis done at about 30000 miles either, just to see what particulate matter from cylinder walls, bearings, etc. are in it, 'specially with forced induction. They can tell you what's wearing, and if somethings about to fail, they can tell you that too just by seing how much of what types of metal are in your oil.

I started running mobile 1 in the engine a few months ago. Can't really say that I have seen a power increase, but I have picked up a couple mpg's. Here soon I want to put in 4:10's and will switch to synthetic in the rear at that time.
