Shots of Nitto DR's

I elected to run a set of nitto 305/35/18 DR's on a set of 18x10 black bullits. I was surprised to find that the rubber stayed pretty well inside the fender. I don't like the huge bulging roller skate look out back.

Turned out real nice:

45mm offset..

Flattusmaximus, I'm not disciplined enough to drive around on my drag radials. Traction turns me into a big jag off and I go flying the clutch at every damn light.

I'll roll the streets on my 20's during the week, and swap on the radials for weekends when I go lurking.

I use Nittos DRs 315 for daily use. They're very good in the rain, but not for track use. They do poke out about 1/4 inch. Think 305 are better width for that flush look.

forensicsteve,

How could they not be good at the track? I used the 315 nitto's on my previous car- carrying well over 600 ponies. I would see an easy 1.6 60 ft off of the trans brake leaving on the two step at 3400rpm. So what your saying about lack of traction at the track has me curious.

The car hasn't been to the track since the tranny swap. The comment was based upon launches with a manual. No doubt the transbrake etc make a huge difference in consistency and efficiency in 60 foot times. It better...or I just spent $$$$$$$ on a pretty metal Hurst shifter

Well, that auto car is long gone and my GT is a 5 speed manual. I've been practicing my 3300rpm launches on the street and have not had any trouble getting traction. The rubber on the track should make it better still. At least that's how it's been in the past..

I agree the auto makes life far easier in the consitency category.

This is Emay's topic and not about my car other than my personal Nitto experience. I'll start another thread and post some updated pics of my interior. Thanks for asking.

Emay
Just have not had as much success with the Nitto DRs as you. Maybe it's something to do with wheel diameter??? mine are 17, so diameter is less than stock, giving the car an effective gear ratio of 4.34.
