Might as well buythe GT500 than buy that motor and put it into a mustang GT. I dont think our 5speed transmissions will hold up to that power

yes, that $ is about right. No, the new GT 500 motor will not fit in your 05 or 06. It will fit in the 07 GT. Several changes were made to make the 5.4 fit into the 07 GT. I know because I'm looking at the purchase. Since the 07 was the first GT500 year, they made the frame + body fit the engine.

GT500 5.4 motor fits into the 05-06 just fine.. Here's a link to a silver 05 completed about a month ago.. Only gaps that are dificult is the wiring harness difference for the 4v vs the 3v, all the 3v injector and coil connecters are different between the cars. Gotta get creative when patching into the stock junction at the firewall.

?????????
Its quite clear that the 07 mustang has had extra work done to make the 5.4 GT500 motor fit. Please research other threads here for I know the 07 is different. Anyone ??

the 07 GTs have mods to make the manufacturing of the GT500 easier if I recall... the GT500 started as an 06 model.. the 07GTs weigh more than the 05-06 as a result of the manu mods...... but it should fit...

BTW the Ford GT motor.... 36K!

It will fit, only thing ford might have done on the 07's is beef up the frame and suspension a little. For 15k, i think you get the tranny too, right?

that kinda swap is almost retarded for the cost of a GT-500 engine....
just s/c the GT with a novi or the many other blowers for the GT or a turbo kit...and blow the 500 away...the GT-500 isnt all its been cracked up to be
it response good to mods...cause its got a damm blower on it

I pretty much agree with what was said about the GT 500 but comparing to the zo6 is a little rediculous considering it weighs 800lbs less and is twice as aerodynamic. And who cares that it's N/A. It's a fucking 7 liter engine for christ sake. For the extra 25 grand it costs for that car the GT 500 would bury it. So whatev. Apples and oranges.

comparing the GT500 to a ZO6 is unfair because it costs $25k more and it weighs like 600lbs less. if ford wanted to make a car that was a true competior for the ZO6 stock for stock they would have used the motor from the Ford GT that is an aluminum block, they would have used light weight body panels, and put an IRS in it. The idea was to have a car that looks badass and hauls ass with 500hp for under $50k. ford met that goal perfectly. granted it is a little overweight but ford used the iron block 5.4 because the aluminum one has a dry sump oiling system which costs alot more. shit for $50k you can have a 700hp+ car that will blow the doors off of ANY stock car. Last time I checked nothing directly from the factory runs 9s.

I def agree that ford messed up with the gt500,l but i also think ford should shove the new body style where the sun don't shine. I like the basic lines, but the front and rear end need to look a little nicer. She's a heavy bitch, if nothing else gets changed for the facelift please put her on wieght watchers.

Now tell me, what do u think would happen if someone took a gt500 power plant and dropped it into a 0304 cobra?

Answer= 11second quarter miles.

now i understand ford isn't really trying to upshow anyone, because they have no real competition for the mustang, but it think they just handed us what we think we want. Give them a overpowered cobra that when push comes to shove, well, they lie down. But it's ok, cause were gonna put it in the new mustang annnnnnnnd put carol shelby's name on it and call her a cobra. of course it's gonna sell, but i call SHANAHNIGANS.

A Shelby Vs Terminator stock for stock mod for mod the Shelby's always gonna win. The stock 1/4 times are separated by what...4/10s of a second. 110 hp seperated by 4/10's of a second. SHANANIGHAN#1 dyno queen

Next, she wasn't done right. If anything, the Shelby Cobra GT 500 is more reminiscant, of the Shelby Cobra GT350. That came with a 289 or S/C 289 until 68 in which it became a 302 or S/C 302. You wanna sell me a ShelbyGT 500....there better be 6.X liter under the hood. SHANANIGHAN #2 mislabel

buddy we can argue about this all day long but the new body style is the best GT yet. It is the fastest, it handles the best and it is the highest quality. If you stuffed the motor from a GT500 in a terminator cobra it would not get 11s because the damn engine weighs so much. unlike a cobra the rear end doesnt explode when you mod it. dont get me wrong the 03/04 cobras are badass cars but if you want a car to just go balls out and mod the shit out of it the GT500 is the way to go. it can make more power than the terminators because it has more cubes. and as far as the weight goes the SN95 GTs and the S197 Gts weigh about the same so the thing that makes the difference with the weight is the powertrain. you got a big chunk of iron with the blower, the intercooler and all of the hoses and shit plus a t56 trans. thats why its so heavy. If Ford put the motor from the GT in it it would raise the MSRP probably another ten grand, but it would run with a ZO6. Ford was smart, the still made a car that hauls ass but still has a low dollar per horsepower ratio.
