IMO the best bang for your buck is the gt500 upgrade kit.
I went with the Steeda 14" big brake kit but the hardware is all Stop-Tech.

i agree that the GT500 upgrade is the best bang for your buck but I don't want to cheap out when it comes to something as important as brakes. so I would like to know which is the best one on the market.

I think it's a toss up. I like the look of the wildwood kit myself.

what about those. they are one of the more expensive ones on the market but i know brembo is a huge name in brakes. i like the 2 piece rotors with the six piston calipers. its $3300 but they would make a stang stop like a freaken ferrari.

The best? Shit that depends how much bank your rolling. If you really want world class brakes go with the upper end Alcon (eg XTF series). They are Nascar quality and you can tell their construction is top end.

Hey, another good idea if you have some tech savvy friends or are yourself, ebay some porsche calipers (very popular and often brand new) and just fab brackets to some rotors you like (eg Baer eradispeed +2) two piece rotors. And get the quality minus about 2 grand.

Why even go there?
Add weight at the wheels (where it's the worst for handling) and gain what, a few feet stopping distance?
Are you autocross racing or something?

pony becuase I like to occasionally take to a road course and stretch her legs. id rather not end up in a wall after a long straight. the stock brakes start to fade after a few laps. its not just the extra few feet gianed, its the ability to go 8-10 laps and not have them fade and lose stopping power.

Saleen has the biggest brakes on the market. 15 inch rotors.

i think stainless steel brake corperation has 8 piston calipers, but good 4 or six piston would work.

-man, not to sound codisending but put your money into your suspention and power plant, and just get some quality drilled/ported rotors. Just a sugestion but the ported/drilled rotors will keep the break dust from choking your breaks and allow them to cool enough for the type of running you want to do, there is nothing wrong with what you got with this much cheeper modification you will be quite statisfied. ? What do you think everyone am I

i think somebody wants a higher rating. but no, drilled/slotted rotors will still not give you enough clamping force to haul 3700 lbs of car and driver down from 100mph fast enough.

Sorry folks my computer was doing odd things last night, It kept clicking and I think it sent multiples, or I tryed to edit and was to late? And I guess I stand corected on the brakes, but I'm in the same boat as the thread originator I want to set up for the curve tracks and don't wan't to add another 2-3 grand for limited help, my mech. friend gave me the rotor idea and he is a certified mech. and if the originator is like me its a hobby not a profession I will apply my breaks a little early if I need to.
