It plays them automatically. Just burn whatever songs you want in MP3 format on to a normal cd, stick it in the slot, and it will play them.

To get more technical. But explain it well so its clear. Think of a normal cd you buy at the store. It's basically data stored as tracks. Continuous data for each song. Track1, track2, track3 etc. So when you stick a music cd in a computer it reads the data(tracks) as seperate songs. When you burn(create) an mp3 cd you are basically writing data with a laser in a similiar process but a different digital format. A track and an mp3 are basically the same idea. 1 song that you want to play in your car. Because of the compression(shrink aspect) of an mp3. You can store a shit ton more on an mp3 cd versus a standard buy at the store music cd. You get near the same quality depending on how the music is created as an mp3 but if you can hear the difference you are impressive unless its a really badly made mp3.
So get all your mp3's burn them in a standard format on a cd-r and stick it in the cd playe rin your car. It should work fantastic and give you an epic music collection on one cd versus like 12-20 songs on 1 cd. Some things that are important about making these. If you organize albums or cruising playlists you can put your music in folders that can be read by the mp3 player. For example Main folder could be My Sweet Cruising Music Inside the folder you would have a list: Sweetsong.mp3 song2.mp3 song3.mp3 If you create another folder and name it for the particular band or playlist you want you could simply select this on the mp3 player if it gives you the ability to see song names and or folder(playlists you created on the cd) So looking at it on my computer after its burned it might look like this in windows explorer: D:\Rodsmusiccd Folder1 Folder2 Folder3 Just store the music in the folders and you have created playlists with the names of the folders. You will see those available if the mp3 player supports playlists. otherwise just stick it all in the main folder which in my example was called Rodsmusiccd It's really easy.. If you need help post and I'll see what I can suggest. Also you can't know the answer unless you ask, so ask.... ![]() ok edit here: I just looked at a screenshot since I'm still in the buying process for my 07. Does yours look like this? ![]() If so it says folder on the button. That would let you go through the playlists/folder you create I believe.

My wife and I have had some issues with MP3's burned on our PC's and played in the MP3 in the cars; Both in her Focus and the Mustang. Some songs skip, sometimes the disk fails to read unless you insert it a couple times etc. What i found seemed to help was the speed at which it was burned on the PC. (People who have those 48x burners etc) It seems like I need to burn the MP3 at a lower speed, like 16x, or the disks get wonky in the car's player.
Not sure is anyone else had this happen, but it is an FYI.

That could also be the type of cd-r you used to burn your mp3's. They aren't all exactly the same so its a good idea to try a few types. I have some that are black that read in everything I have ever put them in made by memorex. They are 52x 700MB 80 min CD-r's. I generally go Memorex if I have a choice. They seem to work good for me.

The player determines the media you can use. Since factory car stereos usually do not support dvd's I would say no on using a dvd for mp3's in a Mustang. If the stereo supported dvd's you could do it since its data that has to be read by the player. Some new aftermarket stereoes support dvd's.
Example: It would be like sticking a vhs tape in a dvd player. You can't do that for 2 reasons. The player doesn't support the format and the obvious reason because the physical media doesn't have a slot it fits into. In this case most cd players don't support dvd format so you can't use a dvd. Even though it fits in the slot.
