Another Gas Mileage Topic... ["fuel used"]

Whenever I fill up my tank there's always a discrepancy of 1/2 to almost a full gallon...as in, my car think's I've used less gallons than I actually have...so therefore my average MPG shown on the dash is actually higher than the real number by 1 or 2 MPG...

Does anyone else have this problem? It's not a big deal, but I didn't see anyone mention this on the other 3 page thread about mileage.

I have the same problem too. I just chalked it up to the gas stations trying to get there cut of the oil companies screwing us up the arse.

Man, I don't think so...if it only happened at certain gas stations I'd agree...but it's consistent, at any gas station I go to. I suspect the computer isn't reading the amt. of fuel used accurately.

same thing happens to me with the fuel used. However I keep track of my MPG manually (force of habit for us big rig drivers) and my figures usually match up with the cpu's MPG within a tenth or 2

It was tested on the new here and the stations here are taking our gas! And its legal for them to take up to like a 10-15 percent of our gas, so if you pay for 20 gallons you may only be getting 17-18 gallons in your tank! This was about a year ago this test went down so it might have changed but thats my best thought!

I bought the car for sport not mileage. It's tuned for 93 octane and gas mileage just doesn't seem to matter cause I usually have it floored.

Me too, as most of us. If we were all worried about getting 30mpg we would be on a civic forum right now. That doesnt mean its acceptable for gas stations to rip us off.
