Tokico D-Spec Shocks

I just put on the rear shocks last night. Install took about one hour. I didn't have time to do the struts and will tackle them Friday evening.

Wow. I have them set for the stiffest ride and it is indeed stiff. After lowering my car, I have thought putting these in and I'm glad I did. The dampening ability of these things are great. I didn't have much of the buggy effect from the factory shocks, but the Tokicos really tightened everything up and when you hit any bumps, there is zero bounce.

Impressed. More info when the Steeda upper strut mount and front Tokicos go in Friday...

do you ahve to use a spring compressor on the front struts? If you have to use one and you dont have one this is how you do it.

put a floor jack under the front lower control arm, and jack it up to compress it a little bit, then unbolt it and let the jack out slowly, and that will let the tension out of the spring.

i got that off of an episode of muscle car on Spike TV.

Ah, grasshopper, that is how I did it when I lowered the car and did not replace the shocks a while ago. One of the board members PM'ed me and detailed that out. Great tip!

Having done it that way once, I went ahead and purchased the spring compressor for minimal cash. That way, I can take the springs out whenever I get bored and feel mechanically inclined

The jack trick worked, but I was really nervous the whole time. I think I'll feel better with the compressor. I really had no choice last go around because no local shops had the stupid spring compressor for rent--they were all out!!

yeah the compressor is probably safer but the jack gets the job done.

and you have to put a space between the last word and the emoticon

The hardest setting is way too hard. I have mine on the mid setting and put it on 4 turns for fast road work but even that's a little too hard and causes the car to bump round on anyhting short of a marble smooth surface.

I may have to agree with you. Once I put the fronts in, I'll dial in the whole thing.
