First time at the track

Hey, made my first trip to the track last night. Here's the timeslips. I think I pretty much suck. The third slip was my best run but I got smoked off the line. My car # is 427 in case you did'nt figure that part out.

1st time to the track man? Judging by your 60 ft's you spun... alot at that. Don't let this get you down. Get some more practice and seat time and your times will slowly go down.

Your reaction time was in the toilet too to go with all that wheel spin. As flatt states practice, it's the only way to get better.

Ehh when I race I prefer not to worry about reaction time really. It doesn't help me focus personally. Plus that clock doesn't start clicking until you leave the line.

Yea, I can tell it was your first time to the track as your car is alot better than that. My ATV can run times better than that (low 8's) but then it weighs 375lbs

Thanks for the feedback. I did learn alot the first time out. The wheelspin was really bad, spun the whole way through first and halfway through second. Think if I ease up a bit I'd actually run quicker. Hope I get a chance to get back soon.

How did you launch? Did you feather the clutch or did you just dump it?

Yeah sometimes you're also better to just slip the clutch out as you're rolling on to the throttle instead of doing the dump N' mash.

I'll try that. I rev'd it to 2grand and dumped it the last couple runs, the first run I took it to 2500 which = smoke.

some 285/35-18 Nittos would be perfect on those Roush wheels.

Yep, and if you're running a manual, those Nitto's will not only help your launch greatly, they will help reduce the spin when you powershift, particularly in to 2nd.

With stickier tires and more experience youcould easily get you 60ft down to 1.8 from 2.3.

I agree. I think that Roush will make you happy when you get things right.

Grabber dumping the clutch really isn't how it should be done, unless you were on drag radials and did a nice burnout... then maybe just maybe they will bite. You need to slip the clutch... in other words gotta ride it out a little to avoid any wheel spin.
