Fog Light Replacement

One of my Fog Lights went out and I was wondering do I have to replace the entire fog light which runs from $50-$100 or can I replace it with just the bulb which runs about $8? Where is the cheapest place to order them? Thanks!!!

FOR SURE - JUST THE BULB. Otherwise it will be a warranty issue. In fact, the dealer will likely warranty the bulb going out this quickly.

If not, you can pick up bulbs almost everywhere. The fog light on your 2006 GT uses 9145 bulbs. Check your owners manual for bulbs required for entire car and installation instructions.

I replaced both my headlights and fog lights with Sylvania Silverstar bulbs as they are brighter and white rather than yellow in color. You can buy these on ebay or Wal-Mart may have them as they do carry some sizes of Silverstar. Your local performance auto shop will also likely have them. If you decide to go with Silverstar, the headlight bulb is H13ST and fog is 9145ST. I paid $15.99 per bulb.

This is the company I bought them from on ebay:

Just bought a set off eBay from the buyer you suggested! Thanks!!! eBay is the only place I shop, I think I'm too lazy to drive to the automotive store.

Hey vette, have you replaced your fog lights yet? I need to replace mine but at first glance it looked like a PITA so I haven't taken the time yet...seemed like there were some clearance issues.

It looks like all you have to do is remove the black plasic cover that is on top of that area and it should give you room for a simple unplug old bulbs and replace with new. I have the same type of lights on my driving lights in my Vette. Just make sure you do not touch the glass on the bulbs with your hands. This will give your bulbs a short lifespan because of the natural oil on your hands. If anyone knows of a easier way please let us know!!! My bulbs are on their way through the mail from eBay.

Yes, you begin by removing the shield. The headlights are much easier to replace than the grill mounted fog lights. For the fog lights you need to pull the grill toward you (once you've taken out all the appropriate fasteners) in order to reach in behind to remove the old bulb and insert the new one. It's tight. Two people might make the job easier, but I did it on my own.

I wore gloves to avoid touching the bulb.
