Beating a Vette

Just wanted to know what mods i would need to beat these 2 corvettes i know of. The first is a 1999 with a corsa axleback exhaust and a manual trans, the sencond is a 1989 with a flowmaster axleback with an auto trans. Thanks for your replies.

You'll beat the 89 with no issues, depending on the driver of the newer one you could beat him with basic bolt on crap as long as you can drive.

Hmm, well dont be intimidated. Go out and race your race and you should do fine. As for specific mods i really couldnt tell you for sure, you know he's significantly lighter than you and more powerful stock, but you should hook up better. I used to get really nervous before a race now I just get out there and run. I know how fast my car is and just cuz I'm racing a supposedly faster car it doesnt make my car go faster. For all you know he might choke and miss a shift or any number of things but bottom line its a loss in drag racing and thats all that matters. Whatever may come of these races I wish you best of luck bro.

The older vette is in the bag! The 1999 one, I would say you need a 93 octane tune, intake, and pull the spare tire/jack out of your car. If your car has 3.55 rear then you are set! Might not want to race highspeed as they have a 6speed I believe, lighter, and more aerodynamic.

I found out that LS motors dont pull to well against turboed 4.6 mod motors

It would have been even worse if we had gone from a dig like I wanted

The 89 has 250hp stock but is lighter. Don't underestimate the low down torque of the L98 but it's breathless up top. I raced an '89 in my LS1 Camaro and up to the 1/8th, there wasn't a lot in it and then the LS1 breathed and pulled out a long lead on the way to running a 13.8 against his 14.1 or 14.2 which is about par for an L98 and it's easy to get a 14.xx by poor launching.

The '99 is lighter and has 350hp. What are you gonne do - you can't change physics although a lot have the touring gears at the back but it's still a low 13's car stock so you're gonna need some power. Don't believe all the IRS can't dig nonsense, they can dig as hard as any Mustang and they don't run out of breath.

A supercharger will put you neatly into 405hp C5 Z06 territory with a similar power to weght ratio. My HO Vortech (claimed 462hp) has the same power to weight as my old C5 Z06 and they're about even as my friend still has his.
