by pass valve

On the gt we have the novi 2200 and I know boss man has something like a by pass valve. Someone want to explain me this concept and maybe tell me were to find one. And are they efficient at all?

If I'm thinking of the same thing they serve the same purpose as a blow off valve in a turbo does by directing boost during off throttleorother non accelerating times so that way your not boosting an engine thats decelerating or off throttle during a shift or somethin like that. But i'd think a supercharger would have something like that already and I just dont know exactly what that is. It would make since considering the NOVI is a centrifigal supercharger which is assentially a turbo powered by a belt vice exhaust gasses. Anyways theres my 2 cents lets hope I didnt make a fool of myself.

If you look it up, I'm pretty sure the blow-off valve is more critical for screw driven compressors which drive the pressure along a screw. The centrifugal is more like a fan and tends to allow more pressure blow-back past the turbine and generally has a pressure relief valve to vent excess pressure.

a by pass valve recirculates the pressure let out so the centri doesn't go backwards with the left over air during shifting, but the air is already accumulated by the maf so it can't be let off into the atmosphere like a blow off valve in turbos unless you have a blow through maf. That's my understanding of the by pass valve that I have...

Flat,

Procharger supplies bypass valves standard in their product line. If your familiar with how my car is set up, the outlet pipe from the blower going to my intercooler goes down and then over to the fender. Prior to entering the intercooler the blow off valve resides. As mentioned above it's designed to relieve boost pressure when your off throttle. Prochargers vent to the atmosphere and they are extremely loud.

To hear one you can go to cervini's web site and on the main page a red play button populates over the top of the GT500. Click it and you can get a pretty good idea of how the procharger valve sounds.

So then... how could I go about getting one for the novi? Kinda like bossmans I guess.

I think bossmans has a similar set up to the bypassed novi 1200's configuration, not 100% sure. If it is, there are two valves in that configuration.

Take a peek at the Paxton pdf at this link for their layout.

http://www.paxtonauto.com/pdf/manuals/4809654.pdf

Page 8-6 is where you want to start. From there I would contact Paxton for specifics about the valve they recommend. The part number for them appears to be 8D001-001.

Thanks emay I'll go over it with my dad. I thin at the end of the day we all want that air release noise. Just sounds so good!

You need to get a By-Pass Valve or Recirculate a Blow Off Valve back to the powerpipe...

I use a vortech min-byass reciculated to the powerpipe...You can also use a Greddy Type-S and reciculate it back to the powerpipe...

Its pretty easy...You just need 2 bungs welded onto your piping...One right before the blower for the bypass valve to mount to and one on the powerpipe to put the air back in front of the blower...

It helps get rid of surgeing on the blower...
