07 GT to GT 500 engine swap

If I decide to smoke my bonus on this beast: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-S...spagenameZWD1V

What can I expect to pay for an install ? What can I get for my GT 2007 motor ? I have 8K miles on it. If I then(post install) badge my car with GT500, am I still a poser ?

I would get forged internals befor going with a Cobra engine... the 4.6 with a blower/turbo and forged internals will weigh a lot less than the 5.4L and it'll be able to hold likke 700 hp, maybe more.

I'm not saying you can't, its just that its cheaper to make the 4.6 faster and save on weight... unless your planning on doing some weigh reduction. But the snake engine is bad ass.

I wish I had 16 grand to spend on a engine. lol

I think you'll also need the 6 speed tranny to be able to use the engine to its full potential, I would'nt go without the 6 speed if I where to swap engines.

So a 6 sp for the tranny ? Will the 07 4.6 5sp manual fit the gt500 ?
If so, I'll leave it for now

For $11,700 tou could buy a Whipple HO kit, Livernois forged stoker short block and stage 3 ported cylinder heads. I say biuld up the 4.6 or buy a 5.4 out of an F150 or an expedition and build that up and say a boatload of money.

your going to have issues with the tranny. Swap to the 6 speed.

You also have to address the fact that your car is plumbed with the wiring and electronis for a GT, not the snake. 4 valve wiring harness is much different and probably the most important change you will need to address. You have to patch the 4 valve harness in with the existing wiring.

In the end, if your not doing the install your self, expect to dump another 2500 on install.

I posted up a v6 to 4 valve swap a few months back. Review that thread so you know exactly what your in for as it was extremely detailed.

After installation you are up over the sticker of a real Shelby GT500 and you will be Shelby powered but 20 years from now the value won't be there because you don't have a numbers matching documented car. If you want it do it but not for investment purposes. With all that money out you could probably get a real one with a six speed etc. I believe the 07's will be showing up for sale as the 08's hit the lots. My dealer has an 08 on his lot already. I know of an 07 that is being traded in on an 08 super snake if the dealer can get one and I already put my name up for that one if the deal happens. Good luck !

WISE WORDS!!

Dont under-estimate the Spanish Oaks complexity! I looked at putting a Roush 402RE in mine and the cost of the electronics was terrifying. Also, the weight of the iron block versus the 4.6 alloy should be considered too, ...

For my 2 cents, Id build up the internals (as stated before on this thread) and then look at FI. Easily get more bhp to the rear wheels than the Shelby lump and then some. Also swap the Tremec 3650 out too - again as stated.

Id love to see/hear that!!

I would def just build up the block you have and then get FI. You will get way more for your money imo.

I have to agree that you will be spending alot and getting a little. The 5.4 out of an F-150 is always a good option. Or just building up what you have with forged internals, heads, cams, procharger with the boost cranked!!
