Yes great post.

The problem is you have to convince Ford that you are experiencing the issue without mentioning the actual TSB. They absolutely hate it when you go in and say hey I've got TSB blah blah.

I've got one of those TSB's that only rears it's ugly head every so often, but we couldn't produce it at the dealership so I must not have a problem because they weren't hearing that TSB stuff.

Robo, sorry you cant download, but if you try and put a link to the TSB's Ford has its own secure site and it doesnt work. So i have to put in my "secret" password in when i sign in. But i can email it to you ?

Yeah, they hate it when the customer diag's their own cars. If yes, if we cant produce youre problem, "there isnt one"

I understand how you feel though.

I have been getting the same error code " P0506 Idle Control System RPM lower than expected" for about a month. The only mod I have done is a Shaker Hood and a custom tune with an X Cal 2 from Blownbyracing out of Fla. This system came with a Oil treated Air filter. Well, I took it to my dealer and they tried to blame the filter and more over claimed it was going to Void my Warranty! Has anyone gotten this code and have a list of possible causes?

Thanks

What does she idle at?

Do you own the Xcal2?
Have you cleared the code and it comes back?

Take it to a shop, get a dyno graphed custom tune for best results.

Yes it's the XCal 2, idle just under 1k,cleared it many times. Because the Dealer claimed the filter being at fault I have used the original, the K&N, and a new Motorcraft, same results. Dyno cost $450 :-(

Send DTP an email. They can get you a good custom tune without taking it to the dyno and it shouldn't cost alot.

Yeah it costs a bit to get a custom dyno tune, but it's soooo worth it. Each application differs a little bit from the next, so without it, you are getting a more 'generic' tune to keep things safe. Once you get a good graph of what your car is doing it can be tuned accordingly.

I've got mine set to idle at 900 and have never seen that code. There must be another switch the computer needs for it to be happy with the lower idle.

From things I've read BBR is still on the fence as being a trusted tuner in our community.
I have nothing negative to say about them, but have read alot of other folks posts who do.

edit: Oh and the problem is in the tune, the car doesn't care what filter you have in place, it's bitching about an idle setting. I'd go back to your mod air filter.

edit2: And if you are really worried about keeping the warranty valid, but still want to mod, you are going to have to find a SVT dealership that installs Ford Racing Performance Parts while maintaining the factory warranty. There aren't alot out there but there are some.

BRAKE NOISE - VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 3/8/2005

Nothing major, I plan on upgrading the brakes anyway and I can't reproduce it at will.

I was just hoping they would see it, but didnt.

Some 2005 Mustang vehicles built before 3/8/2005 may exhibit occasional brake noise during light to moderate decelerations from speeds below 40 MPH (64 Km/h), often described as a high-pitched squeal or screech.

ACTION:
Install revised rear brake linings following procedures in Workshop Manual Section 206-04. Do not replace or turn rotors, and do not service the front brakes for this condition.

PART NUMBER PART NAME
5R3Z-2200-B Disc Brake Lining

WARRANTY STATUS:
Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage

If the build date fits your car, I can take care of it for you. Just let me know.

This TSB is basically for technicians. It tells you how to use the FORD specail scan tool and diagnose the bad coil pack.

GROWL/GRINDING NOISE IN 2ND OR 3RD GEAR DURING DECELERATION - TR3650 MANUAL TRANSMISSION - VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 2/21/2

Mine is doing this, does anyone know what this means??

A dealer tried to tell me it was the gears in the trani and they wanted to charge me $1200.00 just to pull it out. I called bullshit and told them no.

I have a vortech on it also and they said that is what caused it so it was not under warrenty blah blah blah.

can anyone help. I was told it might be the t/o bearing also.

it only make a noise around 2300 rpm for like a second and stops??
it does not do it when I am over 2500 rpm???...........

ISSUE:
Some 2005 Mustang vehicles equipped with 4.6L engine and the TR3650 manual transmission built before 2/21/2005, may exhibit an intermittent raspy grinding noise while driving in 2nd and/or 3rd gear during deceleration. The noise may sound like a bearing growl, screech or scraping noise. Noise intensity may be light to medium, and is more likely to occur during the first few minutes of warm-up.

ACTION:
Order a synchronizer kit and a snap ring kit. Replace the reverse gear and synchronizer on the main shaft, and the associated snap rings. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 308-03B.

NOTE: METAL SHAVINGS, PARTICLES OR FLAKES FOUND ON THE TRANSMISSION MAGNET ARE NORMAL.

PART NUMBER PART NAME
2R3Z-7124-CA Reverse Gear And Synchronizer
4R3Z-7109-AA Snap Rings

Thats the TSB... sound like youres?

It pays 5.5 hours. At our shop it would be about 500. Thats warranty time. We usually multiply warranty time by 1.5 and thats customer pay time. So it still wouldnt be near the money they told you!
