I prefer a roots-type blower for my 2007 and the dealership I bought my GT from said they would install a Saleen blower and I get to keep my warranty. All for the tidy sum of $4,800.00. What a deal !
hey go for it, but i think the one they are going to intall for you only gives you about 370-380rwhp. usually if guys spend the money to get a supercharger try to get the most bang for their buck. you can ugrade the saleen pulley and get bigger numbers but then lose your warranty.

Thanks, that is what I am finding out the more I look into this. More power, lose your warranty. I would really like to go with a Kenne Bell, but with only about 1,000 miles on my car I would hate to lose my warranty right out of the gate. Another local Ford dealership wants around $6,800.00 to install a Rousch blower and the warranty remains. From what I can tell it is more about the supplied tune that Ford provides rather than my choice of blowers as to whether I keep my warranty. I guess it's six of one or a half a dozen of the other as to which one I choose. So, I can expect around 375 R.W.H.P. with either of these I expect. Do you have a preference, Saleen or Rousch? Or maybe a F.R.P.P. whipple. I think the lower H.P. rated whipple allows you to keep your warranty as well. I can live with this for a while and later on increase the boost and dig a little deeper for more power. Thank you for the reply and have a great day, Benjamin

whipple and kennebell are the best twin screw superchargers hands down, then the saleen is a close second place. rousch supercharger is trash, dont get it. if i was you i would go with the whipple kit and keep your warranty, then later on upgrade to the whipple HO kit and get that 475rwhp.

If you plan on staying stock with no power adders 4.10's are a good gear IF you know how to drive your car... launching on the street you will get no traction... 373 is a great medium... But you also have to look at what tire and wheel combo your going..

I was running 4.10's in mine and really didn't enjoy them with the Blower... now that I am going with a built motor and Turbo set up I am going to stick with the 373's.... When I did the gear swap I really did like the 373 ALOT better than the 4.10's for a few reasons... More traction off the line, higher speeds on the freeway at less RPM and with the Turbo and 600HP to the wheels on a street tune I dont think I will need any more..

Gears

I thought and thought about changing gears, probably to 4.10s. Then I thought, with my 3.55s, my car is pretty darn quick, gets good mileage (for a performance car), makes no noise, no leaks and no vibrations. Ya know, my 3.55s are just fine.

If you drove one with 4.10's you might think differently.

Under normal driving conditions, you don't lose that much mileage. The 4.10's add about 400 rpm on the highway in 5th gear.

For city driving, again, under normal driving conditions, the 4:10's can actually get you better mpg, as the torque multiplication makes it easier for the engine to get the car rolling.

Just sayin'.

Straight swap of the physical gears in the rear end. Places like Ford Racing Parts even have pix.

And no need to fear ignorance when asking questions humbly - the ignorance certainly can't last long.

What's up people. I'm brand new to the forums. Traded my 06' Impala SS for shiny new 08' GT Deluxe (5 spd) last weekend. Absolutely love the car. Problem is, it came with the 3.31 rear. After reading through this thread and others, I'm thinking of going with 3.73. It's going to be my DD, and there's a chance I may do a SC down the road ( hopefully, I'm playing the lottery on a weekly basis). I guess my question is, how does the quality of the ford racing gears stack up to other brands?( I'm assuming there are others out there, but honestly I'm not sure). There's a set on Ebay right now for a decent price so I'm wondering if I should take the plunge and snag it now. Also, I've seen a few online part dealers that have install kits as an optional/ related purchase. I'm guessing that I'd need that too. Other planned mods in the future are pretty standard I guess, CAI with a tune, short throw shifter and an exhaust. Please forgive my noobishness and thanks in advance.

Hello!

Awesome!

Problem is, it came with the 3.31 rear.
That's not a problem, they call that an opportunity on this forum. Well, an opportunity for fun at least, maybe not retirement savings. Ah well.

You'll get much more help (and more informative help than I can provide) if you post this question in the main +05 forum.

But from what I've read, Ford makes the most reliable gear sets. Motive is another manufacturer, but there is some concern about gear whine. You can tell by the part number, the Ford manufactured set has an a at the end, while the Motive made ones have an m at the end.

You'll need the installation kit, and everyone seems to agree this is one of those rare mods best done by an experienced shop - there's some tricky bits with getting the gears just so and good shops have certain tools to check that. One of the more frequent problems with gear installs is loud gear whine.

The average price for gear install including parts appears to be $500-$600 total. The write ups I've read on people watching pros do it, the install is a couple hours what with making sure it's installed right and so-on.

Good luck and again, welcome to the forum and Mustang community.

A blower is in the works as I write this so I will stick with the 3.73s as suggested. Thank you so much for your time and knowledge. I am old school and in the past I just added cubic inches and that solved the problem most of the time. My F.R.P.P. gears are going to be installed within a couple of weeks and going from 3.31s to 3.73s should make a difference I can feel in "the seat of my pants" as us old schoolers used to say.
