First MOD Questions1. Can anyone tell me what a stock '07 GT convertable would get in the 1/4? 2. Has anyone every used or heard of anyone using the Ford Racing Parts? 3. Why are members saying to use multiple manufacturers for an exhaust system, is it better than just getting a full system from one manufacturer? 4. How difficult is it to install the HURST shifters? I just bought a 2007 GT/CS in January and I am looking for some answers and advice on a couple of simple bolt on mods. My plan right now is to get the intake and exhaust done. I just bought the Ford Racing intake. Next, I am planning to buy a bassani x-pipe and catback system. Then I am planning on getting the HURST shifter. Has anyone heard anything bad about any of these products? |

Well I was thinking about making all of the upgrades to my GT/CS be Ford Racing. The next big purchase will be the suspension. I was thinking about buying the full Ford Racing suspension package but I would like to know how it would compare to Eibach.

this is for the exhaust part of your post: it is better to use the same manufacturer for the headers and midpipe bc the you will know the fitment is correct. but you can use any axle back bc they all bolt up the same to the factory over axle.

FRPP parts are good, but depends what part you are talking about, some other manufacturers may be better. for gears for example you would want to stick with FRPP.
what are your goals and plans specifically for your car: performance, sound, street cruiser, 1/4 mile, etc? |

Thanks for the feedback. I am thinking about getting the Bassani exhaust next. I want to get everything except for the headers. How are their mid pipes? Mufflers? Sound? Does anyone have it, if so how do you like it?

Since I have a convertible I am not going to go too crazy. Plus it is a Cali Special so I don't want to take it to far away from stock. I really just want to have a great sounding mustang with the ability to contend with the other cars in its class.

2.like someone else mentioned, it depends of what fordracing parts you want. 3.since your not looking for headers, you have 3 choices (H-pipe, X-pipe, Prochamber) H pipe sounds deeper, Xpipe give you more power and a slightly raspy sound, prochamber is like the inbetween. you can mix and match mid pipes and axlebacks. 4. Hurst install is simple! and once you put it in you will be apart of the HURST CREW and i will get you a #. WELCOME TO MM!

Your quarter miles time would be about 13.8.
I have the Bassani catted x pipe and axle back. You can click the link in my sig for a video. The quality is excellent as is the fitment. The FRPP stuff is okay. I would go with other manufacturers instead. For example I would have went with a JLT or C&L intake instead of the FRPP because it makes a good bit wore horsepower. Here is the mods I would do that would give a really quick car, and make it handle good. C&L/JLT Intake Steeda Underdrive Pulleys Kooks LT headers and x pipe with Bassani axle back OR Bassani x pipe and axle back FRPP 4.10 gears MGW shifter Steeda Stage II handling Pack

Some FRPP parts are good I would reccomend that for the money you shop around. There are much better performing parts out there for the same if not less money. Case in point. The shelby GT uses all FRPP parts The power pack specifically (FRPP CAI, Tune, Axle Back, and x cross over and only gets a 19 hp increase over stock) You can get a C&L Racer, or JLT CAI Combo kit with tuner from Bren speed or Bama and get 20+ hp just from those two parts. I think FRPP is good for their suspension but as far as exhaust, CAI, and tuner I would lookm around. You will get more for your money. Here is an example of a well rounded non FRPP set up:
1. CAI and Tuner Combo (JLT or C&L from Bama or Brenspeed) $549-$625 2. Cat or Axle Back and off road x pipe (your choice) example Pypes violator polished T-304 axle back from brenspeed $239 Pypes off road x pipe from brenspeed $179 3. Spydershaft $479 - $519 4. Shifter (MGW, Steeda, Pro 5.0) $265 - $297 5. BMR Lowering kit from stang suspensions.com $539 Get those parts and you will will pay between $2250 and $2398 which is less than the going price for the FRPP Power Pak and FRPP suspension kit together and you will have more power (40-60 additional RWHP) and better parts period. The suspension will not be up to the level that the FRPP is but a few more parts like Tokico D spec's and front/rear sway bars which you can purchase later and you will have a better suspension, in the end unless you plan on auto cross a simple suspension will be just fine and allow you more money for power. Some will argue the HP claim but suffice it to say with the mods listed you shoud see at least 40 additional RWHP possibly more but either way it will kill what you would see with the FRPP Power Pack.
