In Cali they carry mirrors to look under your car to see if you have long tubes or no cats etc... They are a bitch about it also. Cali cops have nothing better to do then to bug us good people just trying to have some fun.

I have no idea, but I don't live in Cali so it isn't something I sweat. Though I bet NJ will get really Draconian about emissions within the next 5 years or so. So I'm being *somewhat* tactical with my mods.

Ill still get the LT headers cuz i know they will pass here for now at least...and if worst comes to worst you just exchange them out each year for your emissions....thats 1 time every 365 days so i can deal with that hahah

You have yearly emissions? Damn, at least I have 2 years between inspections. And since the car was new I don't have to do anything until Jan 2011.

Impossible since NO longtubes are legal in Cali in you want to say 49 state legal thats another thing, although like I said before federal law makes them illegal on the road, and federal law supersedes state law. Now if you just meant JBA headers and not JBA longtubes (which I didn't even know JBA made LTs) then thats different as shorty headers are 50 state legal, as long as they get a carb#.

Shorties get a bad rap. Shorties although not adding a lot of HP somewhere in the neighbor hood of 10-15 will add some nice torque up to 20-25Ft. Lbs

Well worth it and they keep you legal in this Communist State.

Well just my 2cents but torque is as important as hp when it comes to acceleration, so if you get 15 plbs of torque i would take that over 15plbs of peak hp anyday. "Torque wins races"

I disagree, torque is always at least as important as hp. Execpt maybe at talledega.

But actually you guys just got me real interested in shorties with this 25plb tq gain talk so I called frpp. They told me that their shorties would add anywhere from 0-5 peak hp and in the tq area he said it might add little more torque but it would be at a higher rpm and that you would probably lose a little off idle tq. I would never give up off idle torque on a street car. Im am trying to get more off idle tq outta this ovc engine not less. That would be like giveing up size for stamina. Whats the point?

So no shorties for me. Maybe some other brand would offer some better numbers than frpp but I cant see it.

its better to have them ceramic coated because its keeps the heat from going throughout the whole engine bay.

Anything above 2000RPMs is gonna suck on gas milage... I did a average of 90 mph on the highway yesterday and when the tank was @ 3/8 it said I had aproximately 50 miles left on the tank and I was @ 3000 RPM's or so @ 100 (3.55)... still averaged 18.7 MPG though, with the few shots to 125
