Without a doubt, the best thing to do is compare the weight of the wheel & tire combo from the stock 17s to the 20s. More weight = slower times.

Another thing alot of folks don't consider when they add larger, heavier wheel packages is upgrading the brakes. I see SUVs that came from the factory with 17s sporting 22-24" wheels with the stock brakes. They are asking for trouble IMHO.

18's are optimal from everything I've read so far.

thats very true rob. i ask people when i see they have huge ass wheels why they didnt do it and most dont even undrestand why and how it could cause problems with braking. i read something sometime about going from a 18" to a 22" will extend your 60-0 brakin distance something like 50-60 feet. that imo is stupid and rckless and careless.

18's would be IDEAL, just put some lowering springs on your car and it will look better then the 20's IMO

I plan on it ......I want to do the proper research on the S/C and the brakes before I pull the trigger..........hence me crawling around the boards.

I guess without comparison, I can't tell how much performance I'm losing. It's plenty fast for me and I like the look of the larger tires. I'm in love with the handling and braking is excellent.

I'll take the trade off...cuz I don't notice it.

Not to be an ass,but these cars are slow already, and for the track, most folks have there stock rims with road coarse or drag tires.I'm going 20's all the way.The 05+ begs for larger tires, the 20's match the arch of the wheel wells perfectly, the 17 and 18s look funny.15 pounds per wheel is no big deal and won't effect braking as long as you keep the diameter the same as stock, throw your spare tire away to compinsate ..05+ has as big breaks as an 04 cobra. You can't compair an SUV with 24's because they goal IS to increase the tire size. The stang 20's,we just want a larger rim with a smaller/shorter tire to keep the diameter the same. The Saleens do pretty well with stock 20's
Example.....a BFG KDW2 265/30/20 is 26.3 inches tall..
.................my stock Perilli 235/55/17 is 26 inches tall.

You can even get a 25 series 20 inch ties that is only 25 inches tall. It's pretty much a rubber band though. Not good for potholes.

I have the 18's on my, and at first i didnt like them, but they really do fit the car. i heard the 17s get better traction out of the hole?
