Torquing the lug nuts
My mechanic, as do most, uses air powered tools to put my lug nuts on. I thought that was a no-no. Aren't you supposed to tighten them to specific torque measurements with a torque wrench?

The tire place I go to uses air tools, but they have these things that stay ridgid until they reach a cetain torque, then they twist so the don't get over torqued.

you are right its not good...unfortunantly every tire place up here anyways....they do use them...Kal Tire Fountain Tire OK Tire they all do it. They dont impact on them just a quick zap to bury the lug...If the guy is good he wont wreck nothing but I have had to replace lots of lugs bolts over the years form Kids doing just that.

as long as they are using torque stick on the impact you are fine. the torque stick will not let it get past a certin torque and 100 ft/lbs is what is should be

100 Ft. Lbs in a Star pattern.
When i do it myself. I always start the lugs by hand then use the impact gun to just barely snug them and make sure the wheel is on and seated fully, then use the torque wrench to finalize it. If your nice and ask the place you are using to please follow that procedure with your car most will accommodate you.
