Autometer Electronic vs Mechical Gauges?

Want to get boost and fuel pressure gauges for my Paxton HO install. What are pros and cons on electronic vs mechical guages. The most obvious is price. I can save over $200 with mech. I am looking at the Autometer Cobalt series. I plan to mount them in a two gauge cluster on the steering column.

Thanks guys. Here is the plan. Get a mech Cobalt Autometer and a Wide Band O2 A/F guage. Going for the two gauge steering column pod. Thanks again.

I run a mechanical boost, electric fuel pressure, and a Innovative XD-16/LC-1 wideband...

Electric gauges are cool. No lines to leak fluid. Nice.

Mechanical for Boost and you must go with Electric for the Fuel Pressure unless you want to risk running a fuel line into the cab of your car.

Absolutely love it...

I also like that I will never out-grow this wideband...It can grow with your set-up...

You can use an isolator but by the time you buy the mechanical gauge and isolator kit you might as well buy the electric gauge and have a cleaner install.

You will also want a wide band 02 sensor.

Well it will tell you if your a/f gets out of whack so you won'tt blow the motor which costs a little more than a wide band

no, the wideband tell you the ratio of oxygen to fuel in the combustion chamber telling you if you are running too rich or too lean, and the fuel pressure gauge tells you the pressure in the fuel rails.

A wideband is much more important than fuel pressure. I have some plx widebands for $260. I run mechanical boost and fuel pressure. I use an isolator for the FP so there is no fuel in the cab. The mechanical FP gauge is WAY better than my old electronic gauge. It has instant response and is more accurate (most electronic gauges have a slight lag). I can even know my boost just by watching the fuel pressure.
