C&L Intake System Question

Just bought an '05GT that has the complete C&L intake system installed. Howeve the C&L diablo predator tuner didn't come with it, and cannot contact the previous owner. So I don't know what the current tune is.
Its running lean and I suspect the previous owner either didn't do the chip tune (like C&L says must be done) or it was done wrong.
C&L does not want to sell me the tuner because they don't know the current state of the installed chip.
Suggestions??

I would say get a SCT XCAL 2 and have it tuned by that...

If you have a dyno around get a dyno tune and I bet it will be better then what C&L will send you...

If that does not work give C&L a call and dont take "no" for an answer...

Hey Blue05GT, I don't think C&L sells direct, but what they are probably refusing to do is let someone sell you a CL7140 Predator without buying the intake itself. I would ask them if you could buy a U7140 (which is just the universal Predator) and then buy the C&L tune from them. The CL7140 is packaged with the intake itself so that might be the problem.
Good Luck!

Sometimes a little info can get the job done easier than trying to force the issue. C&L has a business arrangement with Diablo right now and don't want any dealers selling the CL7140 without selling the intake with it so you're probably not going to get a dealer to sell you that tuner without buying the intake (except for maybe RPM...those guys will sell anything). I know that you can buy a U7140 from a dealer (which is the same exact tuner except it doesn't have the C&L tune preloaded on it) and buy the C&L tune via email from Diablo since they had problems with dealers early on (like RPM) selling the U7140 instead of the CL7140 so customers had to get the C&L tune from them.

Thanks for all the good info.
I can pursue getting the Diablo,
or the local dyno shop will do a dyno tune and put it on an SCT II ($637.00)

Forgot to say my 'check engine' light keeps coming on. The Ford dealer says its because of the C&L.

Yeah, I would agree that it was the C&L intake too since your air/fuel ratio is now probably too lean...don't go racing until you get it fixed!
As you probably know, the software on the stock computer is limited on the parameters that it can handle so adding the C&L took the air flow up past those parameters and the software can't compensate effectively with enough fuel. Regardless of where you get it, a tune will solve your problem (and make the car stronger too).
