Fatter tires on stock 18" wheels

Anybody out there running fatter than stock tires on the stock wheels? I've got the 18" premium wheels (flat spokes) with 235 mm tires. I like the way they look, but I'd like to eventually run wider tires--looks like these rims could handle at least 255 mm and maybe 265 mm tires. Also, how is the front fender clearance with 255 mm or 265 mm tires? (assuming aspect ratio is changed to keep the diameter about the same)

you could put a 275/45/18 or a 275/40/18

It will fit though. the best fit for the front would 255/45/18... but, a 275 will fit.

So a 275 tire will fit on the stock rim even though it's only 8.5" wide? No problems with fender clearance up front in turns, even with the stock offset?
