Hmmm I wonder what they are going to do for fuel economy on the 6.2??? Must have some sort of fuel managing...like the new g8 (or many others for that matter) that shut down the 4 cylinders when not in use.

With the whole CAFE thing coming up...wonder how long that 6.2 will last? Granted with the challenger/camaro coming out with pretty big displacement motors, I wonder if they will last? Dont get me wrong a huge displacement motor would be nice...but with gas only on the UP and UP in the future I sure as hell dont want to pay 5+ bucks a gallon for 10mpg around town!

I hope the 6.2 is available in the GT...anybody get confirmation on that? It would suck to only have it available in the top model! Seeing as how a nice GT now is just under 30k, they better make the 6.2 available for 30 or less!

I also hope they can keep the weight similar to the current model (lower is probably a pipe dream).

^ that is a LOT of hoping!!!

with crude hitting $122 a barrel today and predictions of $200 by the end of this year, expect gas to fly through $5. Unfortunately this is a reality we face. I do think society will correct the price one way or another, every bubble bursts eventually. Hell look at the housing market. It took months for crude to break 70 and reach 80, it took a matter of a week to break 110 into 120, so its showing no sign of slowing. Anyway i went off on a tangent...I think the 6.2 will be a higher model. I do not see it being under 30k as the competition with 6.0+ engines are above that price. I'll be hoping for it though haha

lol thanks thats one more person hoping and wishing! I dont know if they are even considering the pontiac g8 as competition for the mustang...but that is a LOT Of car for 29,999! Hopefully ford can produce something pretty spectacular for the same price range! I WANT to be in a mustang, but its dependent on ford if I DO get into one!

well about powertrain, the new motortrend article says that the 6 cyl ecoboost has been green lit for the mustang platform. making more power and at least 2 mpg more than the current 4.6 v8. i agree that the 6.2 will be the higher end models.

Yeah I picked up a copy of that magazine and the first thing I thought was that what they are saying is by no means for sure. I've been following the new Mustang pretty closely and as far as I know Ford has not released engine specs or pictures (they are still driving there cars around with camo). Im pretty sure everything said in there is just speculation, especially the picture. As for the v6 everyone was speculating that Ford would throw the cyclone in (3.5L), as it has better mpg and more hp, so it came as a shock when Car and Driver said the 4.0 would remain. Long story short I think its pretty much a guessing game at this point.

idk; i just bought an 08 and all this 6.2 liter talk is getting me jealous; however i really doubt that a 2011 mustang with a 6.2 is going to start at 25k invoice like the gt is.

i think that ford will keep the 6cyl a considerable amount of hp under the GT, The GT will have either a redone 4.6L or 5.0L, the 6.2L maybe be an option, or a special model either way costing ALOT more $$$ ...... my .2

Well even if the 6.2 is reserved for the upper model thats alright as long as something is done to bump the current power level a little.

a redone 4.6 or a 5.0 would be cool with 350 crank minimum. I would LOVE to have a 400hp naturally aspirated bolt on car! Hopefully they dont screw it up by making it weigh 4k lbs...

yah i agree lighter the better. all the magazines so far are dissing the live rear axle setup. but the suspension isnt bad stock for handling. iono i believe our sub 4k lbs cars could take on the challenger and that camaro in turns with their heavy ass complicated IRS.
