how much would be absoulte best tires for track cost? wouldnt it be slicks and skinnies on the front?
Can't remember exactly but it breaks down something like this

15 inch Bogarts ($1800)
Hoosier 29.5 inch by 11.5 full slicks ($450) (cut fender wells to get them to fit)
MT skinnies (can't remember but much cheaper)

Then if you're launching hard with a transbrake with lots of rear wheel torque, you had better budget for a 9 inch rear or something seriously upgraded ($1000)

Then it's wise to have a trailer. Do all the race prep first, then trailer car to the track...don't have to change anything there (twice) and you have a way to get car home if something breaks or just doesn't sound right, and you'd rather not drive it the hour back to the house. ($3000)

Hoosiers with 15 inch rims versus stock wheel and tire

absolutely. i dropped 7 tenths with just the slicks. could drop any more time that with any other mod that cost the same. nitrous would be about the closest thing, but it is still going to be about a grand after tuning and all the parts you really need after the basic kit

slicks are a huge help for the track....some MTs go a long way.

demello, look at my sig. i run a 12.8 regularly with my mods and the et streets. that is with the stock 3.55 gears. you can run them on the street legally, but absolutly not in the rain. they are technically street legal, but that is about it. you couldn't drive in the rain.

i was cutting a 1.7 60' with the slicks. on my kdw's i was around a 13.5 regularly. don't remember the 60 for those. i'd say i'm good enough, but not great. it's all about learning your car. every change you do to it will mean you have to learn all over again.

I think he meant 8.99 in the 1/8th.

8.99 1/8 and 13.76 1/4 mile seems right.

It also depends on how you drive it!! If you full throtle every gear you will get good times, but if you let off just a little inbetween shifts you will lose time. My '06 has flowmaster axleback, 87 tune, '08 Bullitt CAI, 3.55, and stock tires.
