Whipple Price???

Hey guys. Local speed shop quoted me for a ford racing whipple h.o. kit, installation, and a couple pulls on the dyno (verification pulls)...$7600 +tax. Is this a good price, or rape? he's a reputable guy, but im not sure if its a good deal. I think he said the kit itself would be $5600, so thats about 2g's for install. Let me know what u think!

i'd say not bad, but if you are mechanically inclined you should do the work yourself. not that difficult IMO. you should be able to get it installed for around 7 g's though +tax. if you are close to CA you could get the saleen kit done for cheaper. from a site vendor.

install prices at some nj places are about that. it is real high IMO. i did my install myself, and i am no mechanic. save yourself the 2 grand and do it yourself, trust me when i say that anybody can do this install, as long as you can read, and follow instructions. if you do decide to do the install, let me know, i have allot of pointers that will come in handy.

We charge $1200 for an install, and to check A/F on dyno. Our labor rate is $80/hr. To do things right and take your time it takes a full day and some.

Why not go with a Procharger??? The install is easier, and Emay could probably give you a write-up or walk you through it, that guy is amazing, and he know's what he's doing, so he would be a great person to ask. Doing it yourself helps you learn, and saves you money. And after all, you still gotta have money to get it dyno-tuned at a shop, so why not save the install money for that, and other parts you may want.

We charge only $600 for install...we do not offer dyno tuning, but that isnt necessary on the HO kit. The flash tune is spot on. Find another shop!

I was completely sold on the procharger for a variety of reasons, the install being one of them. Then I talked to a couple of local shops who all recommended the whipple over a centrifugal. One shop even said they'd been having alot of issues with the seals(?) on prochargers lately.

I've done all of the work on my car myself so far, but the whipple seems a daunting task, mainly b/c of the wiring part. Mickey gave me the best price so far, but then I'm stuck paying even more from this tuner for install if i don't get the kit from him. Anyone in the cincinnati area wanna help with a supercharger install?

dude, the wiring is not that big of a deal, i am telling you, you can do it. search the other mustang websites, allot of people do this install without any problems. i did mine by myself in 2 1/2 days, taking my time. well worth it and you will learn allot about your car. plus if you ever want to pull the supercharger off and sell the car, you will be better prepared to do so. save that install money and use it for gauges or tires... ect you can use the ford tune till you want a custome one, the ford tune works great.

I'm in Charlotte. Custom Performance up in Concord did some suspension work for me a couple of weeks ago. They did a great job, we're really respectful and knowledgeable, and just seemed to be a good group of guys overall. And even though I've heard nothing but good about them, they gave me one of the most reasonable quotes I got on the suspension work - and I called almost everyone in the area.

Before I left, we were just shooting the breeze and kicking around future plans for my car. I asked them about supercharger installs. It sounds like they do plenty of them. I didn't get a formal quote in writing, and I'm not sure if it includes a dyno tune (they do have a dyno and do custom tunes), but they said they'd do a supercharger install "for around $600" - and they said that's what it would cost regardless of the supercharger type, as long as it wasn't anything too crazy. I even asked specifically about the Whipple kit that includes the injectors, fuel pump, and inter-cooler, and they didn't change their tune on the pricing.

Like I said, that wasn't a formal quote, so I'm not sure if they'll throw the same figures at you. But also like I said, their prices were very reasonable on the suspension work, and I'd recommend them for anything you need done.

I know the procharger is supposed to be an easier install...is it mainly because the whole pulling the manifold thing?

mickey, why don't you just hand deliver the whipple and then give me a hand in the garage? Please? Seriously, though, the price of the install is making me think about other options. Talked to brenspeed today and I'm seriously considering a saleen stage III kit instead. brenspeed is only about 4 hrs from me and the install is a hell of a lot cheaper.

I'd go to Brenspeed if I was that close to them. The Saleen Stage 3 kit they offer is pretty sweet too.
