I have never heard of bridging a stock amp. That sounds like a recipe for blown up electrical shit.

I think those would sound like crap being that thin.
I would just go with a box in the trunk. They sell custom fit enclosures that tuck in the corner. |

I've had big subs/boxes in my trunk with every car I've had. Looking to avoid having to do that. These pioneers actually put out a ton of bass for their size.

I don't see how, because, as I'm sure you know, a sub creates bass by the cone moving air, and with not much space to move, I don't see how it could create the bass a conventional sub would.
How much are you looking to spend? |

Are you running the Shaker 500 or 1000?

Well if you have seen the amps out of the 500, (these are 2x250 watt units) they fit in the palm of your hand. I doubt they can even be bridged, or handle it if they can.

I think your best bet is to get one of the custom prefabbed boxes they sell with a good quality sub, and a nice amp.
And sweet sig Zip. His PS skills are amazing aren't they? |

I have the shaker 500. And yes, I know using a real box in the trunk with a real sub and real amp would be best... I'm just looking to save space. You can pick these 8" Pioneers up for about $80 online.
I'll let ya'll know if I end up picking them up. |

Yeah lemme know how that works, tribal. If anything I'm just curious to know if it can even be done with factory amps. Here's a pic of them. I just posted the link because the picture is huge, and I'm too lazy to save & resize it. lol http://savkomedia.com/kevin/Pics/Audio/IMG_1657.jpg

Thanks for the picture. I'll ask over at TMS... that is where I have seen people talk about it the most.

Well, I finally replaced my front speakers with the Infinity 682.7cf 6x8's that I've had in my closet for the past 8 weeks, and now I don't think I need to swap the subs. They added enough low end that I think I can live with what I have, and DAMN the mids and highs sound much fuller. I have the same 6x8's in the rear, but swapping them didn't make as much of an impact.
Now I just have to take everything back apart to dynomat it soon (too much going on today to do it). Any issues with taking the clear plastic cover off that is on the door behind the panel? Any reason to reinstall it after adding the dynomat? |

Reinstall it! It is a water shield, and it could leak if you don't. If you Dynamat over the hole, when you go to put the door panel back on, it will cause problems. (I found this out the hard way doing my shop's GT500, and had to redo both door's work to make it right.)

i looked into doing two shallow mount 10's behind the back seats. i was able to hear them before and they actually were very good for not being a full sub. for anyone not knowing what the trunk of an s197 looked like they would never even know they were there the way i would have done it. only would have come out about 4 inches. about to where the break in the trunk floor angles down. would have look as if it was just the back of the trunk. drop the seats though and you would have a full visual of the speakers. i chose not to do it and add performance mods instead though.
