Why don't you just reprogram with the revs per mile?

These are from Mickey Thompson...they require a rim width of 9.0-10.0, but have a 27" diameter which is stock OD to keep your speedo and odo accurate and fill your wheel wells properly. Going down 1/2" in wheel width shouldn't pose a problem, but you'd have to confirm that with a tire guru like Jucostud. People are running a 275 width on stock rims with no problems.

The side wall wont be exactly the same but no one will know the difference. You shoudl beable to do 285 or 295. I think thats as wide as you can go with a 8.5 in rim

As I recall the MTs are 26.5" in diameter. I have a set waiting to go on the car now.

The 265/40 size works fine. I have BFG 265/40s. But they are shorter then stock by .75". So the speedo is off, unless you change the revs/mi.

here's a shot in action...

handle ok is a relative term. they handle like shit at high speeds in my opinion. i got 275 40 17 on a 8 inch wide rim. they stick way out. i would think 265s would look almost normal on a 8.5 rim. but like he said they are way shorter then the stock 235 17s that were on my car.

not too concerned about width as much as getting the diameter rite...as long as i get a big enough contact patch to hook up

nitto doesnt have anything on there website that they recomend for a 18X8.5. a couple that would fit im sure but the height is 25.91 so its shorter. thats a 275 i think.
