found the one I want...opinions?It's got everything I want except the GT appearance package...which I would inevitably mess with during the mod process anyway so oh well... Is that a good price and do you guys see anything wrong? I talked to the dealership, they just put it up there a few days ago. Thanks, MustangFu |

I'd have to say that's a bit overpriced for, what appears to be, a base package GT. Doesn't have sirius satellite, doesn't have the shaker sound system, looks like the stock 17s, and it's a manual. That's essentially the exact car I bought new in 07 with 34 miles on it, but I paid 23,500. That 07 has nearly 20k miles on it...I'd think it should be at least under 20k.

For a non private (dealer)sale, that looks to be an average price according to ads I've seen. Of course, they're asking for that, so try and get it for less. Here's another idea if you have the patience: Why not wait and get an '08 leftover at a dealer? You can strike up a good deal, and if you're gonna finance the used one, just finance a leftover, and you'll get a better interest rate for a new car, plus save some bucks for a few more months to put more down on it. So you'll have a brand new car, and a lower interest rate.

Well I'm putting down about $5,000, 6 if i'm lucky. I might just give up on the silver requirement...I dunno. But I do know that I'll have everything said and done within the next 20 days or so...

Sales should be a bit slow right now...see if they won't bite for $20.5K...stick to your guns and I think they will. Looks like a nice GT though...love the seats.
btw...if its a premium package car, it has the shaker 500 system. |

With the way the economy is, and how sales of cars with V8's are going... I would start low man. I'd shoot for $19k. If they don't even come close, just make sure you let them know you're not interested and make your way to your car and leave. This way they'll know you mean business. Remember that every dollar saved on the price of the car is a dollar more that you can put into mods!

Cars like this are running through the auctions right now for the upper teens, $18k-$19k. While the dealer should make some profit, they don't need that much. I'd try to get them down to just under $20k, if they don't bite while you are there then stick to your guns and walk out. Wait until they call you either that day or the next day and ask them to get you under $20k. Once they come back and make you another offer, you should consider that to be a very good deal. If they don't budge on their numbers at all from when you left, you could call their bluff and pass or take it, if the numbers work for you. Also, as the end of the month is coming up, its a good time to try to get a great deal as every salesperson and dealership has sales numbers they have to hit.
This is a pretty good plan and same thing I did to get $3000 off the price of the pre-owned 06 GT vert I bought. I have been selling cars for over 5 years and this has always been a good tactic. Good luck and it looks like a great car! |

I think it has twice as many miles as it should have. They took it in lower because of this, so bear that in mind. In my area of the country (Cincinnati) they just announced $3000 rebates on Mustangs. I paid $23064 for my premium coupe last Sept w/ aplan and $2500 rebate and it was brand new.(2007 model) I think you can get a new one for close to what they want. If you do decide to go with this one, get the vin# and take it to a service dept at a Ford dealer. They can run it and tell you when the car was first bought and any warranty work done to it. I looked at a used 07 before I bought mine with 3000 miles, but it had already lost almost a year of it's factory warranty, that's when I went with a new one.

if it's what you want get it no matter the cost. Cars are the worst investment ever and are and always will be way over priced

its not a bad price actually, but you can probably get them down to 20k or even 19k.

I found another, how about this?
Cars For Sale: Car Details - AutoTrader.com It's less money (it's local, I bet I can talk them down to about 18) and a friend of mine is buying my car for $5,000 so that's like $13,000 total. Not bad for an '07 GT, right? |

Shop around some more. I just bought a brand new GT with cloth interior for $22,800 in Houston. I admit it's a smoking deal, but the dealers are willing to make deals like this nowadays.

We all understand the Mustang bug around here, look around some more and don't be afraid to go to the dealership and show your face a bunch of times. Drive a few of them and start the deal--just don't purchase until you are secure with the payments. They will know that you are serious and not just going to buy one for shits and grins, you want a good deal and are not going to purchase until you get "a deal" (I, for one, have the most fun when buying cars, it's my money and I wait until I get what I want). It's like fishing, you sink the hook , they fight, you eat it

Looks very average. That's not bad, but here is what I mean:
The price should be WAY lower. I recently bought an '07 with 1400 miles on it, and shopped the market nationally for a month before that to know what to pay, so I feel I understand the market well. I watches hundreds of Ebay auctions to know what they were actually SELLING for (BTW - only about 1 in 10 sells on Ebay, funny). That one is a dime a dozen, and even less because of the aftermarket seat covers. So if you like it, don't pay more than $19k (at most). If you lose it, no big deal, there are many more out there. Keep your eye on Auto trader, Ebay, and especially craigslist. Florida and Texas are the cheapest markets. Keep in mind market is down big for V8's, the 2010 is just around the corner, and the '09's are just flowing in now ('07's are now a year older). Remind the dealer of these things when negotiating. I paid $20,500 for my premium manual '07 with 1400 miles, 18" premium wheels, FRPP springs, Granitelli CAI, strut brace, honeycomb panel, lighted sills (all dealer installed). It was garaged and perfect. You can see from my example what you can have for the right price if you wait and look. I had to drive 7 hours to go get it. It was even the colors and options I wanted. Go to Joe Cooper, go before the end of the month or wait till the end of next month. I bought my 07 premium auto on the last day of June 07 for $5K off sticker plus rebates. Cooper sells more Mustangs than anybody in the state, they will move on the price more than anybody. I would bet you won't pay much more for a base GT with no miles over the price of a used one Base price is $26,500 with a $1500 rebate you are at $25K without any negotiation. Just my .02
