I have seen both the aluminum and the plastic rear ones. The plastic ones look CHEAP. I got the aluminum ones from hubcapsplus.com (MRT-3002 MRT Interceptor 2005 - 2008 Mustang V6 or GT Hinged Rear Window Louver 1 $489.99) and I like them. Just make sure you follow the installation instructions, let the adhsive cure the day they recomend of you'll be doing it again! (I know!) As for the side ones, I bought them body colored and they also looked CHEAP so i bought a can of SEM trim black paint and painted them to match the rear louver. MUCH better.
Good luck on your choice -Ken

The aluminum ones look much better and look like the louvers on 69-70 Mach1's. The plastic ones are cheaper and really look cheesey to me. The best price is on Amazon.com. Type in Astra Hammond 10612 and they have them for $329.99 with free shipping. I've never seen a better price on them. I'd love to have em on my car, but have too much other stuff going on.

Does anyone have photos of either the plastic or alum. ones on a car? I've seen the stock photos but I like candid ones better. They seem to show all the good and the bad.

Very nice car! So did you do anything to the rear louvers or just leave them the flat black that they came?

My plan with the back ones is to leave them flat black. The car came with the new "Performance Package" on it which included a flat black wing, flat black front spoiler, and a flat black hood scoop and stripe.
I really want this to match to make it almost a V6 retro Mach 1. This one isn't as powerful as the Roush but I can at least afford to drive it daily. |

Does a 6 do that much better than a GT in gas mileage?

Since my aggressive tranny tune and FRPP hot rod cam install my MPG have gone down maybe 20% but my Smiles Per Gallon have increased 1000% so its been well worth it!
I would never consider painting the louvers on the back. sounds like flat black is going to be perfect on your car. Best of luck to you! -Ken

I get maybe 3 to 4 mpg better with the 6 than I do with the Roush. In hind site I probably would have gone with the GT as a DD versus the 6, but this one cost less, looks great, and the basic commuter traffic I'm in a V8 wouldn't do much other than being louder sitting there.
The biggest advantage to having the 6 is that I can drive it to Wal mart or in the rain and not worry about door dings or getting it really nasty while the Roush sits at home waiting on a warm sunny day for me to go take it out. |

Im running the Astra Hammonds as mentioned above. I like them alot. The installation really requires two people and they rattle once I hit about 70.
If you want tips about installation or help with it just PM me. |

I love them and think they are def old school. I heard the plastic were better that the metal can rattle after a while. Not sure how true that is but worth looking into (havent seen anyone in this forum that complained about rattling.). stangs rattle enough when high in the miles. I do agree the metal look nicer and not so cheap.

Metal does rattle. No avoiding it unless you ghetto rig something then its ugly. Its annoying at 70+ when you hear it tapping the back glass. So i drop the windows and let the speed volume cover it up.
