New Door Speaker -- Installation

Ok, Im sure that I am not the only person that owns a 05+ pony... This is my 4th Mustang, had two fox bodies, 1 SN 95, now a 2006 GT..... I have always upgraded my stereo

Now, I have googled that hell out of the Shaker 500 system ..... I got the schematics.... but I don't know if my car has an amp, if so... where is it?

Also, anyone know either (a) how to run wire from the car thru that little rubber tunnel [i know its not a tunnel] to the door or (b) what colors are the wires that I am looking for to hook up my new component speakers in the doors... (c) run it from my HU harness.... [I got a AVH-6800DVD HU]

I have installed the 1" tweets in the A pillers and I want to install the 5 1/4 in place of the 5 x 7.....

Any help would be great......

Your car does have an amp for the subs... I just forgot where the hell it is.

You shouldn't have to run new speaker wire from the headunit. I believe that they are on the top of the driver side footwell. This is what they look like.

I wasn't going to run new wire from the head unit, i got a 4 channel amp in the trunk.... I will post pix [hopefully today] when i get done installing my system.

I appricate the input guys, now if anyone knows where this amp is, that Tribaltek spoke of, so I can unhook it... that would prolly solve my audio problems

On the subject of speakers. I have the shaker 500 stero and wanted to upgrade to the shaker 1000. I have found the amp and sub on line. Do I have to change the head unit or does it just plug into the back of what I have?

With all the problems the Shaker's have, you may want to consider just going aftermarket.

There's a TSB 07-17-06....Vibrations in the driver's side speaker, that makes it sound like it's blown. They add foam strips.Had the TSB done, but made it worse, finally thanks to a sharp eyed Tech the problem is fixed....

The shaker 500 is fine for someone who doesn't go crazy with music, for someone who does (me), it is definitely time to rip the headunit out, the front speakers, and the 8 inch subs in the doors. Do this, Put a 6.5 component system in the front, amp them with something nice (we all like around 125-150rms, gets nice and loud) get another amp for two rear 8 or ten inch subs (add them to the rear) And get a new headunit, and use the headunit for the stock rear speakers.

I have the Shaker 1000, and it is a great system, but if I could do it over again I would just go aftermarket. You could get more for less.

I got the shaker 1000 and I like it. Never go over half the volume. Gets crazy loud after that

On my '07, the amps are on mounted to the side of the driver footwell, on the outside wall. Right up above the pedals and steering column... makes it hell to work around. The picture posted above is exactly what mine look like. If you look on the left side of that picture, you can see the hood release... that should tell you exactly where they are. Definitely bypass these amps, but take this into consideration. If you are keeping the stock head unit, all the speakers are run through a crossover so only the deep notes go to the subs, and only mids and highs go to the regular speakers. As long as you don't try to stick components where the subs are and use the stock wiring, you should be fine.

the amps are on the drivers side. They are on the side with the clutch Just look under there and you'll see them.

Alright.... This is what I have done so far... I left the stock shaker 500 speakers in the doors and back baffle... I got a Kenwood 4 channel running my component speakers [only have small tweets in right now, A-Pillar install] the I have one 3000w Kenwood 12" sub ran by a 1800w amp... I have a Pioneer AVH-6800DVD head unit.... It sounds good, may leave it like that... 11 speakers... I can't even put it past 10 on the deck
